Review: Lush Coco Lotion Hand and Body Lotion

Jul 11, 2013 21:45

I don't usually shop at Lush, as I thought it is rather ridiculously overpriced. I do occasionally pop by for a bath bomb or two, to pamper myself on long weekends away. Other than that, I tend to stay clear of the shop.

On one such occasion where I popped by for more bath bombs, I spotted this tub of Lush Coco Lotion at 50% off! I didn't really need another lotion but heck, it's 50% off, so my grabby hands went for it (even though it was still very expensive for a body lotion).

I probably have enough lotions at home to bathe in, but who cares? Well, that did turn out to be a problem actually; as someone who don't buy Lush products often, I didn't know that the expiry date is so short. It's less than 6 months from the time I bought it so that is something to note if you're like me and have tons of products to go through.

Description from Lush:
'Inspired by the bountiful blessings of the Caribbean, with fresh pineapple juice, extra virgin coconut oil, mandarin and rosemary infusion. No added perfume; smells brilliant all the same. Lavish lashing all over your hands and body for toned, brightened, smoother skin."

There is surprisingly no fragrance added - surprisingly, because the shop is so heavily scented that it's near choking point; however, on closer inspection, which involves sticking my nose right into the tub to take a deep breath, I do smell a little bit of coconut in it. I don't like the packaging though, there's something about tubs that I just don't appreciate. I like pumps and at the original price, it ought to come with a good pump!

In terms of texture, it's rather thick but not heavy. That sounds weird, but unlike most body butters or thick creams, although the texture is rather creamy, it goes on smoothly and absorbs very quickly without any oily feeling - in fact, I don't even feel like I have moisturizer on! After application and for a few hours afters, I could still feel that my usually very dry and scaly legs are more hydrated and less "tight".

I really like how this moisturizer feels - my one true complain is the very short shelf life. Oh, and its ridiculous price and silly tub. I might overlook the tub and shelf life, but the price is just crazy for what it is - I think the original price was more than $40. At $40, this lotion needs to make my skin looks like a baby ass, come in a pump bottle with 2 years shelf life, and it didn't.
