Today I have a review for one of MAC's recent limited edition launches, Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour, in "Have a Lovely Day!". Before I begin, I really have to vent that MAC's LE product launches are getting out of hand; it seems like there's a new collection every 2 weeks! I feel like I'm tired of chasing their launches, and find myself buying less from each collection and branching out into other brands just out of "launch fatigue".
"Have a Lovely Day" is meant to be neutral nude. I have not used many cream blushes before, so while I was very curious to see how it works out, I was a little cautious about buying colours that were too bright. So I chose this, thinking that it will look rather natural without much effort.
Please bear with me and my crappy pictures while I save up for a better camera. Above are swatches in 2 different lighting. I would say that the first one is closer to how it looks in real life on my arm, but the second one is closer to the colour on my face as my face is significantly fairer than my arms. I forgot to do a lip swatch, but I would say it appears to be rather muted against my naturally pink lips, just slightly my lips but a tiny bit better.
On my cheeks, this was so blendable, that it blended right in and I couldn't really see the colour. It took "subtle" to a whole new level. I'm not sure if it's because of the colour I chose, or because of the product. I tried piling more on, but the colour just did not build on me.
Without powdering, it was slightly tacky to the touch and it does not really dry down - much like one of those creamier foundations. Not sticky, but it has some what of a still wet feel so it definitely needs some powder to set for people with normal to oily skin. I have very dry skin and it still did not sink totally in.
Yet when I added translucent powder on top, the colour was barely visible. I am actually very tempted to buy a darker colour so that I can see if it's just the colour that I picked was not right for me, or it was the product itself that could not be built up. However, it did appear rather nicely on my lips, and stayed for a pretty long time. I think I just might use this only as a lip product.
Will I recommend this? As a cheek colour, I would say go for a stronger colour unless you have porcelain skin. I am about NW20/NW25 and MSFN Light Plus on my face, which is already on the lighter spectrum, and it does not appear very well on me. I am also not a big fan of the texture on my cheeks, but maybe if I had a stronger colour and powdered it, it would be better? I actually like it better as a lip product, because it doesn't feel as heavy as some lipsticks. Overall, not a very big fan, but it was not a bad product.
