-I'm crossing my fingers for something very good to happen, it'd make one of my dreams come true and it'd be amazing... I'll post more about this when I know whether it's possible or not in the end.
-Yesterday I met (through e-mail) one of Ele-chan's teachers from SCAD. She had already told me he was an awesome man, and I had the chance to check that myself.
He said something that I really really really appreciated, because many people don't get it. He says he enjoys whatever girls want to draw, and he explained that for his project "some girls sent in very sweet stories about tea parties and pretty dresses, while others wanted to do more violent stories with bad language and even some nudity."
I love how both options are perfectly fine as long as it is what girls want. In the past girls could only wear pretty dresses and have tea parties, and today to many people it seems they can only use bad language and be stronger (for lack of a better word).
I always believed that freedom means you can choose between the first and the second (or a third, fourth, fifth option...), not that you're forbidden to choose one of them just because people might think you're a reactionary who's fighting against women's rights.
If a girl chooses to wear a frilly dress? Good.
If a girl chooses to wear trousers? Good.
If a girl chooses to use bad language? Good.
If a girl chooses to use a refined language? Good.
As long as the beginning of it all is "if a girl chooses" I think everything should be alright, because being able to choose is what freedom is about, isn't it?
It's awful to think we moved from an age where girls were forbidden not to wear frilly dresses to an age where they're forbidden to wear them (to give an example, because it's probably the closest one I have).
