100 Recipes I've never tried

Jun 25, 2012 17:32

Hey :)

So I decided to take this challenge. 100 Things you've never tried/done/read/watched etc before. It could be movies, books, anything really. I decided to do recipes. Hopefully I can get to 100~
It's summer break for me right now, so I've been coming home to my parent's house on Mondays and cooking. I bought an ice cream machine so I've been playing with ice cream recipes lately. In any case, this will be a list of recipes I have newly tried.

1st recipe
Jeni's roasted strawberry and buttermilk ice cream.
I didn't take a picture of the bit I made, it was eaten so fast!! The buttermilk was definitely a big part in this ice cream, even though it didn't feel like I put that much in. Here's a pic someone else took though :)

2nd
Lemon herb baked salmon

This was mostly my experiment. I had never cooked salmon before, let alone baked it, so I bought two pounds of salmon, put lemon juice and lime juice on top. Guesstimated some rosemary, thyme, dill, salt, and fresh garlic, let it sit covered in the fridge for a couple hours, and then baked it for 15-20 minutes. I cheated then, and put Mccormick's Lemon herb thingy-ma-bobber as a dip on the side.

it looked similar to the above pictures hahah just not as a prettily plated.

3rd
Honey white challah bread.
One of the ladies at work was talking about how she used to get challah bread at a Jewish shop in town and how she recently stopped going there. She was having kind of a bad weekend, so I decided to make her a loaf. I used the recipe on http://thedaringkitchen.com/sites/default/files/u11/67_Challah_-_DB_May_2012.pdf and it turned out beautifully.

4th
Jeni's - Toasted rice and coconut ice cream
This was wonderful. My family didn't like it as much as the strawberry ice cream, but I preferred this one. It was my first time toasting rice so I was a bit worried, but it turned out really good. I ended up adding raisins to it as well, but I think they would've been better if they were rum plumped :(
