Summary: Nick´s an alpha and a troublemaker so his parents send him to a boarding school for boys. They have no idea that Nick´s gay and that this school is some kind of heaven for him. He´s planning on getting into as many pants as possible. The beautiful omega he lays eyes on first unfortunately is in a relationship and isn´t interested in cheating on his boyfriend. But Nick soon realizes that he can´t move on and when he finds out that the omegas boyfriend isn´t as faithful as he thought he is, he sees his chance to get what he wants.

To leave the school grounds is easier than Nick would have expected it to be. Jack, the janitor, didn´t even ask questions, just took the money and when Joe and Nick met up in the small alley the gate behind the garbage cans indeed wasn´t locked. They coordinated their escapes from the dorms with the times the teachers checked the halls and entryways in the evenings. It wasn´t easy but Joe knew exactly the time and the teacher that checked the dorms on this Saturday evening.
The small Italian restaurant Joe recommended is really cozy and nice. The dark wood furniture look used but not gone to seed yet. The paintings of Italian landscapes and villages on the walls are painted in palish colors but still managed to glow somehow and radiate the warmth and awareness of life of this beautiful country. Nick instantly understands why Joe likes this place so much.
They sit in a slightly secluded corner at a small table for two, their knees almost touching beneath it.
“So, am I right in assuming that you did this a few times before?” Nick asks smiling when the waitress left after taking their orders.
Joe blushes a little and mirrors the smile. “Sometimes it gets really boring at school.” he says shrugging.
Nick frowns a little. He wouldn´t have thought of the shy omega as some kind of rebel that would sneak out at the weekends. “You still haven´t answered my question about how you even know a way to sneak out.” The alpha says after a few seconds.
Joe looks a little uncomfortable for a moment but finally clears his throat slightly before he answers.
“In the beginning of our relationship Rick used to take me out. That stopped after …” the omega trails off and fiddles with his napkin.
“After what?” Nick presses even though he´s not sure he really wants to know.
“The last time he took me out I thought he´d take me to the movies or something like that. It proved that he had booked a hotel room and he wanted to … you know.” Joe says embarrassed and peers up at the alpha through his lashes. “I told him No and after that he barely took me out again. I should have seen him for what he really is then.” he mumbles.
Nick feels a muscle twitch in his jaw from his clenching his teeth tightly to keep the growl in that threatens to break out of him at Joes words.
Instead he takes Joes hand carefully into his and rubs his thumb soothingly over the soft skin of the back.
“I understand it though.” The alpha says and smiles at Joes surprised expression. “As an omega you got to hear day after day that every alpha is perfect, that we never make any mistakes. Some alphas take advantage of that and there´s nothing an omega could do. In fact most of the omegas think it´s their fault.” Nick says, shaking his head slightly.
The omega just stares at him, gaping before they´re interrupted by the waitress bringing their food.
It tastes delicious and the topics of their conversation stay light while they´re eating. Nick learns that Joe´s from Texas too. He´s pleased by the fact that they´re living just two hours apart from each other, glad that he´ll be able to see Joe during the oncoming summer break. He learns that Joes family has money, not as much as Nicks family but they could send him to an expensive private school at least.
“I haven´t told my parents about the break up yet.” The omega says quietly while they´re sharing chocolate cake for desert.
Nick winces slightly, okay, that´d hurt a little.
“I´m sorry.” Joe says with a guilty expression. “My parents were just so glad when they heard that we´re dating. They thought with all the money his family has I would be taken care of, could do and have what I wanted. I´m afraid my mom already picked the tableware for the mating ceremony.” he says, snorting at the thought. “I think they love me and they really want me to be happy but …” the omega trails off again.
“They never really asked you what would make you happy.” Nick finishes for him. He didn´t tell him that it´s likely that his family has more money than Ricks. That´s not what´s important to the omega neither it is for him.
Joe looks at him with sad eyes. “I´m sorry. I will tell them when I´m going home for the summer break.” The omega hurries to assure him.
The alpha shakes his head. “You tell them when you´re ready.” he says in a soothing tone. “Although I hoped to see you during the summer break.” he adds and winks at the omega.
“That would be great.” Joe says, smiling brightly again at the thought.

Nick can´t keep the smile from his face when they´re walking home, holding hands and talking about all the things they could do during their summer break.
They just have to round another corner to get to the gate of the alley where they´d slipped out when Nick smells another alpha, a smell he knows all too well. Joe, who´s chattering away next to him immediately stops talking and stiffens visibly next to him, his hold on Nicks hand tightening.
They see him as soon as they´re round the corner but don´t stop walking. They need to get back onto the school grounds after all and Nick isn´t a coward. He´s determined to protect his omega at all costs. No one would lay a hand on him as long as Nick´s breathing.
Rick spots them immediately and an ugly grin is spreading on his face. Nick has a bad feeling but doesn´t show it on his face or in his posture. The other alpha is alone and it almost looks like he was waiting for them.
“What do we have here? The new perfect couple of the school.” Rick sneers when they´re walking closer.
When they stop an arm´s length away from Rick Nick starts rubbing his thumb soothingly over the back of Joes hand, signaling him that everything will be fine.
“Don´t you have anything else to do? But I´m assuming that a prick like you doesn´t have any friends he could spend his time with.” Nick says or rather growls at the other alpha.
Rick glares darkly at him and bares his teeth but doesn´t say anything. Instead he turns to Joe, grinning evilly.
“Did you know that your suitor was thrown out of three schools already?” Rick asks and all Nick can think is ShitShitShit!
Joe glances at him for a moment before glaring at Rick. “So what?” he asks stubbornly.
Nick doesn´t have to ask what Rick is referring to. He knows where to this´ll lead.
Rick´s grin widens. “So I guess you don´t know the reasons why he was thrown out either.”
Joes stubborn look falters a little and Nick feels his stomach drop.
“It was because of indecent behavior. It seems like your new little alpha friend likes to have an omega on his knees for him and believe me, he wasn´t in a monogamous relationship with any of them.” Rick spats.
Nick feels hot anger replacing the fear of Joe finding out about his past. He´s wanted to tell Joe all of this. But he was planning to wait until they´ve had a few dates and knew each other better, so Joe´d know who Nick really is. Then he would have told Joe as gently as possible about all this. He wouldn´t have thrown it out like this. It must feel like a slap in the face for the sensible omega.
The thought just feeds his anger but before he can launch himself at the other alpha to beat the shit out of him Joes hand slips out of his hold. For a whole horrible second Nick thinks This is it. Joe hates you. He´ll find another alpha who´s worthy of him, or worse. He´ll go back to Rick, thinking that it doesn´t matter because every other alpha is just as much of an asshole as you.
But the sound of a hand connecting with a cheek hard snaps him out of his reverie. Nick blinks, noticing that his little mental freak out really didn´t take longer than a split second. Enough time for Joe to raise his hand and land Rick one in the face. Nick almost has to laugh at the shocked expression of the other alpha but he´s too shocked himself.
Ricks hand slowly cups his own reddening cheek. “You … you hit me. But you … how could you …?” the alpha stammers.
The angry glare that´s still on Joes face slowly dissipates and changes into a shocked expression, too. Nick realizes that the omega obviously didn´t think about what he does. He just did it and now stares shocked at Rick before turning scared eyes at Nick.
Nick doesn´t hesitate in taking the omegas hand and glaring at Rick again. “Joe´s not as helpless as you think, asshole. And I´ll gladly do anything to convince him that I´m not this alpha anymore, that I´ve changed. If he wants to yell at or slap me I´ll take it because he means more to me than just a submitting bitch that can´t stand up for himself!” he snaps and starts walking towards the gate to the school grounds, dragging a stunned Joe with him.

"I´m not like this anymore.” Nick says when they stand in the shadows in front of the omega house.
Joe smiles and takes his hand hesitatingly. “You think I don´t know that after all you´ve just said?”
Nick interlaces their fingers. “Seriously. I´ve never before encouraged an omega to think that we were exclusive.” The alpha whispers, a little ashamed.
“Never before?” Joe asks softly.
Nick looks at the omega. His face, lit slightly by the pale moonlight, looks even more beautiful. His eyes are shining with hope and uncertainty and Nick wonders how this omega can even remotely think that Nick wouldn´t want him and only him.
He leans down and kisses Joe softly and it seems that it´s all the answer the omega needs to his question ´cause within seconds they´re tangled up in each other, hands digging into skin through clothes, arms tightening around each other to get closer while they´re kissing each other breathless.
Nick doesn´t know how long it takes for them to stop but he knows that he´s one lucky bastard when he kisses Joe goodbye and floats to the alpha house to get into his own dorm room.
