Sew what! Lots of folks these days are discovering they are crafty in ways they never imagined.
1. Are you crafty? Sometimes, just not a lot recently. i can turn my hand to pretty much anything if i'm interested enough. i can do crochet and plain sew fairly neatly but for the life of me, i can't knit! i do manage jewellery repairs though.
2. Do you own a sewing machine and what brand is it? If you don’t sew, do you own a glue gun? Yes, i do; it's an old portable electric Singer that was Mum's. Works just fine. i've tried a glue gun but i think you need to practice a lot. i found it pretty messy.
3. What is the bane of your sewing/crafting existence? I mean, is it button holes, zippers, or something else? Dunno i have one; i can do zippers and like hand sewn button holes, if i do them. It's been a long time since i made anything like a dress but i turned out some curtains and repairs to tops (i wind up sewing front buttoning tops and dresses) a while back. i have several to do actually - lazy is all!
4. When and how did you learn to sew or craft? It must have been Mum who taught me the sewing machine, but i can't bring up any memories. She had a large treadle machine when i was a small girl and i can remember seeing her using it. i didn't though until much later on an electric one. i taught myself to crochet, frame pictures or adapt them and hang them (useful in later life for sure). i was taught embroider at school and made a series of small table cloths, before going on to do something more useful; a series of six Willow Pattern cross-stitch table mats, 6 matching napkins and a table runner. Hemming them all was a bitch! i still have the table runner somewhere - it was a LONG time ago, when you consider i did them all during my school years, and i left when i was sixteen!
5. What do you consider your sewing/crafting opus or is it still a work in progress? Do i have one? Maybe those table mats but i did make a dress for my sister once, which turned out pretty good but i don't know what happened to it. i have some small projects to do, whenever.
Isn't it amazing what you remember with the right trigger? i'd forgotten all that cross-stitching, though i did do some bits for presents over the years. i must see if i can remember where that runner is. :D
