ahh i love this so much!!! the brisk kind of clinical mood is so well suited, and i love that it's framed as a flashback with the characters coming across more mature/jaded and like, detached from each other, so even before the rejection it's what you're expecting (love that scene, then pretended to fall asleep oof). and the part about assumptions, how sehun doesn't actually know much about luhan at all, ouch. i think this is my favorite: "Same," Lu Han said, "but I think you've seen much more than I have." He looked sorry. / "Don't try to read my mind, it creeps me the hell out," Sehun lied. bc augh so great (he lied!), the sense of regret (except not even regret, like a stale sort of nostalgia??) that runs through in a rly muted way, bc running away honestly would've been rash and naive and in the end sehun manages to grow up and into his sme role on his own. but still ouch ;;

uugh the brief cute selu moments were really sweet, the batting cage exchange (lol sehun you brat), sehun being awestruck and reconsidering his sme/criminal dichotomy, luhan's austere tastes and his pop star aspirations~~ um so i adored the way you wrote luhan, amicable but looking out for himself, and all the details about his future made me :')) d'aw telekinetic painting so apt, and PERFECTLY STEALING the rose trellis gj kiddo good taste. i also really liked the clever parallels you drew out between sme here and actual sm ent like with the trainees, the bit about sme being a lifeline

ok my ACTUAL favorite is the last section where sehun ruminates on TK versus wind manip. because i LOVE that shit, superpowers are my jam and the descriptions of luhan working from the bottom up and sehun where it's destruction first control later srsly thrilled me~ and then the way the last paragraph speaks to the one in the original was a great touch, how you turn it around and reconstrue the identity-power link, SIGH loveliest remix <3

thank you so much for writing, this was such a great read ;; like ^pillowfrost i'll just imagine them meeting again somewhere tropical... ;;;;
