Loki is tired, too tired to keep up the charade. He’s been pitted against his brother and the band of heroes for nearly ten years now and it’s all so pointless. He can’t beat them, doesn’t really even want to anymore. Nothing is as it used to be and to Loki’s growing resentment…he misses the way things used to be, before the Avengers, before he learned the truth behind himself.

He misses Asgard, life when he was still just a Trickster and Thor’s brother and not an evil mastermind that no one ever wants to so much as look at.

In stark truth, he misses his brother. Thor may have been a bit of a fool but he was the only one who ever appreciated Loki’s Tricks and the only one to ever challenge him. The only one to genuinely like him.

All of this combines to make Loki hate the life he’s made now. It’s what prompts him to work a little of his infamous magic to reset everything.

He doesn’t want to make the same mistakes again, he doesn’t want to end up broken and lost like this. So, he turns time back to the day before his brother’s coronation ceremony and starts all over again.

He won’t screw this up, not again. Everything will be different this time, everything will go right.
