So, I'm bored and have a ton of things I don't wanna do. Thus, I've decided this was a good idea. Clearly I'm insane but, meh, feck it. :D

Hmmm, my second attempt at Lucifer/Sam! Thanks for prompting these two, I don't have much practice with them yet but I hope you like anyway!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucifer hadn't expected his self-appointed task to be easy. How could it considering there were only two people left alive that Sam trusted? His brother and Bobby went through a lot with Sam and both hold special places in the human's heart. He had no hope of competing. Lucifer wasn't called the Morning Star for nothing though, he wasn't about to give up.
The prize was far too sweet.
"What are you doing?" Sam's voice was sleep roughened and slightly incredulous, as if he wasn't sure if he was dreaming or not.
Lucifer rested his hand on Sam's ankle from his place perched on the edge of the bed near the bottom. "Watching over you."
"As I sleep?" Sam made a face, not quite a bitch-face, it was a little confused for that, but it was an intriguing expression all the same. "Dude, Dean was right, that is way creepy."
Lucifer frowned and Sam rolled over to stare at him. "Seriously, Lucifer, can you leave please?"
He didn't want to, he liked being close to Sam, liked watching him relaxed and loose like this but Sam asked and if he ever wanted Sam to trust him then he'd have to follow the hunter's wishes.
So Lucifer left. He flew out to a mountain top and waited among the trees and winter air for the moment when Sam woke once again. Until then he watched and waited, patient as only the devil could be.
It was worth it though, just like he thought because when morning finally came around Lucifer waited until his senses said Sam was up and about and then flew back to the hunter's side.
Sam still jumped and Dean still bitched about making all the angels wear bells, which Lucifer didn't understand the meaning of and thus ignored, but then the younger Winchester turned to Lucifer and smiled.
It was the first time Lucifer had earned that expression all on his own, the first time he had been blessed by such shining brilliance. That toothy, happy stretch of the mouth left Lucifer breathless and his tarnished Grace a little bit brighter.
Yes. That was worth it. That little bit Sam had given him was worth all the confusing tendencies he had to learn to accept from humans so that Sam may learn to trust him and in turn trust Lucifer with more of himself.
This eventuality was worth whatever Sam would ask of him, even the abandonment of all the hate and anger that had sustained Lucifer for so very long. The end of this path led to Sam's heart, so this was the path he will take, loyal to a fault, as he ever was.
*blushes* Awww, thank you so much for saying so! This fought against me for a while before I was finally able to force it out and I worried a bit about it. ^_^ I'm so happy you liked! *hugs* Yeah, this pair is truly growing on me so I'm thinking I'll have to try more, for sure!
