"I am longing for the darkness....."

Last night I attended the single best show in the history of shows. Well, with the exception of Devin Townsend - BORING.

Devin Townsend's setlist....

Something boring
Something else that sucked
Blah
Kill me now
Why exactly are you here?

Yeah, and Dark Tranquillity were amazing as I expected. If you still haven't crawled out from underneath your rock and checked out one of the bands along with In Flames, Eucharist and At The Gates that are the main inspiration for all of these metalcore bands (and yes, if you don't hear the European influence in these metalcore bands then you ARE a moron), then check out my myspace page where you'll find the video for "Lost to Apathy" by Dark Tranquillity. - http://www.myspace.com/deathiseventual

Dark Tranquillity setlist

The Wonders at Your Feet
Lost to Apathy
Treason Wall
Damage Done
The New Build
Punish My Heaven
My Negation
Final Resistance

While Mikael Stanne was talking to the crowd right before they went into The New Build, I felt someone grab me from behind. I turned around and it was Katie, whom I haven't seen in nearly a year. When I turned around, she grabbed me and kissed me on the cheek and said, "I knew I'd find you here. You're the only bald guy I know that likes metal." I had Kevin take a picture of Katie and I. She went back to stand with her friend during the rest of Dark Tranquillity's set, but once their set was over, Katie and Ben came over to stand with me for Opeth's set, which was nothing short of FUCKING AMAZING.

I cannot recall their entire setlist, but Opeth played for TWO FUCKING HOURS! After they played Ghost of Perdition, Mike said, "Do you know who we are? We're ABBA and I'm that hot blonde chick." Katie and I thrashed out and screamed along to the best Opeth set I've ever witnessed. I know that they played Ghost of Perdition, Baying of the Hounds, Under a Weeping Moon, Leper Affinity (personal fave!!!) and their encore was Deliverance. I'll have to get ahold of Beth to ask her what their entire setlist was. They are the kings of having 8-15 minute long songs. Unfortunately, they didn't play Black Rose Immortal, but as the song runs 20:14, I didn't expect it.

Oh, and I'm seeing the same fucking show tonight in Louisville where I'll run into Austin and the gorgeous redhead that I met in the mall two days ago in Louisville.
