Love For Lily Auction November 28 - December 10, 2011

Nov 27, 2020 18:32

This is Lily. She was found outside my parents' home during the weekend of November 26, 2011. She was dumped by an unknown person, sadly not an uncommon practice in rural areas.

You see her right leg? It's hurt. She can't stand on it and it is very weak.

My sister and her husband have adopted Lily. I promised to help in any way I can so that Lily can have the medical care she needs.

We knew Lily was hurt, but what we didn't know is that she'd been shot. That's right. SHOT. As in, with a gun. Her leg joints are shattered and her tiny leg is full of shrapnel.

We are just ordinary people that want to help this sweet young cat. My sister and her husband have taken Lily for medical care and she's had a thorough checkup, blood tests, vaccinations and x-rays.  She's as healthy as an injured cat can be, but is going to need surgery on her leg. There's a very real possibility her leg will have to be amputated.

Have I mentioned how sweet this cat is? The vet had trouble hearing her heartbeat because she was purring too loud! SO sweet.

All told, the vet costs for Lily are estimated around $2000. We are determined to raise the funds needed so Lily can have her surgery.

I'm a fangirl. What do fangirls do when we need help? We ask our fangirl friends!

How You Can Help
The premise is simple: a fandom/themed auction, November 28 - December 10.

Writers, artists, graphic designers, crafters, etc:
If you'd like to donate an item for auction, please post to loveforlily

Posts should include:
  • descriptive subject line (ie. Crochet Gryffindor Scarf, drabble, LJ background)
  • a photo (if appropriate) and/or description
  • fandom or theme (Harry Potter, Doctor Who, cat themed, etc., all are welcome)
  • turn-around time (how long until you will get the item to the winner, especially helpful for holiday shoppers!)
  • minimum bid ($1, $5, etc., please use your best judgement)
All auction posts are moderated and we will get to them as quickly as we can. UPDATE: Posts are no longer moderated, but only comm members can post.

UPDATE: Last day to post offers is Monday, December 5.

How To Bid
Bidding opens as soon as an offer has been posted. In order to bid, simply comment on the offer(s) of your choice with your bid amount.

Bids will start with the minimum amount listed by the seller and will be incremental by U.S. whole dollar amounts ($1). For example, if an item starts at $5, the next bid needs to be at least $6. You are welcome to bid more!

Everyone
Please add loveforlily to your watch list, or better yet, join the community! This will help you keep up auction news.

Closing Instructions
Bidding will close December 10, 2011 at noon Central Standard U.S. time. Bids posted after that time will not be considered. Winners will receive confirmation of their winning bid from the seller. Please DO NOT pay for your auction until that time.

There will be an "all bids are closed" and sellers will be notified. Sellers reply to winners in comments with the winning bid amount. Winners have until December 17 to pay for their items or they will go to the next highest bidder. Bids can be paid using the "donate" button below. Please a link to the auction with your donation payment so the seller can be notified.

Donations
If you'd like to help but do not want to bid, donations are very welcome.

Lily has already received a number of donations from many caring people. As of the writing of this post, we have just over $200 saved for her. That leaves almost $1800 left as our goal. Any funds earned past her actual surgery amount will be donated to the Humane Society of Williamson County, Lily's new home county in here in Texas.

A sort of disclaimer: loveforlily is not a non-profit organization. It was suggested by fangirls friends and organized by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, aka ofenjenowner of hp_paperpiecing, Sewhooked and Fandom In Stitches, for Lily, a 6-9 month old kitten that was rescued by my sister Stephanie, also a fangirl, though not of the LJ variety. If you are unsure about participating or have any questions, you are more than welcome to pm me or email me.
