I started writing this as an angry rant - as my declaration of intent as a disgruntled fan, and my outrage over the events of the finale. Then it turned into something else - hope.

Dont get me wrong I was completely pissed at how they did things, over the phone? hello!!! But I was hopefull, I of course didnt expect for her to run back to Damon immediatelly, because like you so adecuately said it, we would be waiting for "the other shoe to drop" But the things he has done that have gone unoticed will shine through and make Elena doubt and I do hope he will get more under her skin.
Human Elena was so affraid of losing it all, she was scared and felt weak and a liability. Stefan is like the safety of the shore after a storm in the sea, she wants to feel safe (emotionaly) and I get it, we have to get our strength back before we go back out there.
I personaly think Elena has so much growing up to do before she can embrace and accept the ocean of emotions that is her love for Damon.
Maybe Im foolish but after watching the finale I was more on board of this ship than ever.
Thanks for your soothing and inspiring words, they were just what this fandom needed.
