[ Sokka is very diligently practicing with his sword, blocking everything else out. He'd been neglecting himself recently, mostly to taunt Claire and Zuko, but the point is he'd be very easy to sneak up on.

[ Katara is not malicious by any definition of the word.

That doesn't mean, however, that she's able to pass up an opportunity like this. Here you go, Sokka: have a slender water-whip snap around your ankle and give it a gentle tug. She's trying to trip you up a little, not cause you to impale yourself on your sword. ]

[ He screams a very manly scream, just managing to not topple over backward. He whips around, heart racing as he sees none other than his mean, mean sister standing there. Sokka lets his sword clatter to the ground. ]

You could've killed me!

[ OKAY, so maybe it was a little irresponsible -- she probably would have yelled at anyone else who would have done something like that. ]

Oh, don't be a baby. Does that mean you're not happy to see me?

[ He pauses a minute, holding a gloved hand over his heart as it begins to slow.

Then, he goes to Katara and wraps her in a hug. ]

How was the North Pole?

[ She returns the hug tightly, leaning up into it on her tiptoes.

Unconventional greeting or not, she had missed the hell out of him. ]

Cold. How's the Fire Nation been treating you?

[ He smiles, pulling back and scratching the back of his neck. ]

You know something? Not so bad. Zuko had his friend here, you just missed her...

She's from Earth!

Zuko made a friend? Without help?

[ LOW BLOW, Katara. It's mostly in jest, anyway, and she holds her hand up, palm outward, in a vaguely apologetic gesture. ]

That's great. What's she like? And how'd she like it, here?

[ He laughs anyway, shaking his head. ]

Even he was surprised. And she's.. really nice, actually. She has yellow hair, and made me this stuff called 'curry' that was really yummy.

...Now I'm ~hungry.

Anyway. she told me all about how she goes to school and I got to thinking, why don't I go to school?

[ Yellow hair? Beautiful. She can't help but be amused by his admission of hunger, though. He wouldn't be Sokka if he weren't constantly starving. ]

Because we're from the South Pole, and Dad and Gran-Gran taught us everything we needed to know.

D'you know when she'll be back? I kind of want to meet her.

But I could learn other stuff! Claire says she has writing class, and philosophy! There's no reason why I can't go back... right? Well, not that I ever went.

I thought you might! I told her to come back soon, she might come down to the South Pole next time.

That's great.

[She's going to pace around you now, Sokka, as if trying to make sure you've been taking care of yourself in her absence.]
