When The Tears Come Streaming Down Your Face;
As usual, i have no idea where to begin. Hmpfh. :(
Started work at 10am today! As usual, that is. I'm always doing opening on Sunday(s) with Mark the Siao Boss, and he never fails to entertain of course! :D But before i reported for work i went to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to visit a paternal uncle cause' he had to have a heart surgery. Block arteries or something. Ouch. But he's okay now, so thank goodness!
Was cashier in the afternoon... ... don't think it was very busy. Or maybe it was. I have no idea. All i know is that the stupid Amex/Visa/Mastercard machine was acting up, kept showing me the deadly words of "MECHANISM FAILURE". Then after a few hits, a few muttered curse and swear words, it starts working again. Right. And today I found out another customer has the exact name and surname as me. :( Goodness gracious me! I mean, with at least 3 Jolin Tan (s) lurking around, what if one day there is a serious misunderstanding!!!! I think i want to change my name. And i thought of a unique one that suits me perfect well! Presenting to you: "Iloveapplepiesandcookies Tan" Nice name, no? I am seriously considering already! :D Hahaha!
Oh yeah, afternoon Lena's (mama) friend also came. I know he came before. The one quite dao one... Came with his family and daughter as usual. He requires special service, obviously. His sashimi and sushi is put on special plate one leh, not coloured/red plates. And plus he has free green tea and each one of them got a free Haagen Dazs as well. And since Samuel wasn't around, Desmond and Mark were pretty stressed out by his presence. So was me and Elvance. LOL! When they left, we were like "Phew!!". Hahaha! :) And since i was cashier i was also a bit freaked out when i had to give "special man" the bill, but thankfully everything went smoothy!
Lunch for me today was Long John Silver again! Hahaha! Told you i like their crunchy shrimp already! Ate the wrap today, but what the hell, their standard no consistency one! :( Yesterday when i ate, the whole wrap had at least 6 shrimps packed in it, it was so absolutely heavenly! Every bite i took was just shrimp and cheese, shrimp and cheese! As for today, there were only a miserable 3 shrimps and plenty of vegetables. Right. :( I feel so cheated; plus their advertisemnet poster has 4 shrimps shown, so i feel EVEN more cheated. Boo to you Long John Silver Tiong Bahru Plaza! Always make me wait so long and serve me substandard stuff. >(
Dinner was busy, busy, busy again! And guess what? Mark was like, "Eh girl, you continue be cashier ah! Thanks ah, love you ah!". Right. So that means i've been cashier the whole entire day i've been working. Which explains why i have been pretty cranky. Seriously, it's pretty hellish to repeat so many orders and go like, "Do you have any HSBC/DBS/POSB credit or debit card? CitiBank?". And then when you've finally got the stupid machine to work, you still need to go, "Thank you! See you again!". And don't forget that you have to accept delivery orders and answer calls, take takeaway orders and answer random enquires. Gahhh---------! Oh well, at least there was some amusing part too. For example, :
Customer: *Comes to cashier and whips out her IDENTITY CARD (IC)*
Jolin: *A bit stunned look*
Customer: Today is my birthday! Do i get any special discount?"
Jolin: *More stunned, but manages to regain composure*
Jolin: "No miss, but you get a 10% discount with HSBC/DBS/POSB/CitiBank credit or debit card"
Customer: Right.
Jolin: *Wonders how cheapskate she is secretly in her heart while settling the customer's payment*.
I mean, what was above mentioned customer thinking of? LOL.
Alex also came today! Omg, stress stress ~~ But he was nice to me today, thank goodness. Just that he was standing at cashier area and so many people were using the new Sakae member card system that i was not very familar with. I mean, the thing is so complicated lah! One wrong button and you're screwed. It always makes my face go green when i handle those transactions, and it takes me quite a while to regain momentum after i settle one.
Like Elvance and Mark once said,
Elvance: Hahaha! I always see Jolin's face turn white when she needs to do Sakae card transaction.
Mark: Ya! But she always manages to do it, then she will jump to us very happily! xD
PS: Elvance! You got no right to laugh at me lor! You don't even know how to do one Sakae card transaction! Muahahaha! :P
So imagine, i had to do 3 in a row right in front of Alex! I was trying hard not to collapse and faint on the ground. LOL. But as usual, i should have more faith in myself, because it went very, very smoothly! Could tell that Alex was abit impressed, i think, hahaha! Let's hope it's that way lah! Hope he doesn't think "That silly girl, Jolin... ..." in his head.
But he was a bit amusing too, in a way!
Alex: *Takes out a bunch of coins from his pocket*
Alex: *Puts all coins on Jolin's cashier table.
Jolin: *Stunned. (As usual!)*
Alex: *Don't know why i have so many coins, i just suddenly realised*
Jolin: *Giggles*
Alex: *Giggles*
Alex: *Change them into notes for me*
Jolin: *Pauses, thinking about the time Samuel took Ching's money from her register when she wasn't paying attention and then making her change notes for him and she later realised she lost money*
Alex: Change for me lah!
Jolin: *Still hesitant, wondering if it's a trick... ...*
Jolin: *Thinks if she has left her register unattended before, for Alex to lay his hands on her money*
Jolin: *Figures out that she has been a vigilant and responsible cashier*
Jolin: *Finishes her very long thought process and changes the coins into notes for Alex*.
Jolin and Alex: *Giggles*
So that was it! And yes, i have very long thought processes and yes i tend to think and worry too much!
But i guess sometimes i'm so freakked out by Alex's strict-ness that he comes across as scary to me.
When he's around he never fails to make me feel more stressed and pressurized.
I know, i know, he's fine and quite nice at times, but still!
When worked ended at 8.30pm for me, sat around talking with Chris and Andrew and Koh, hahaha!
My riders are very amusing too, yay! :D
