The inevitable happened-summer came to a close. Autumn came and baked the leaves crisp and brown, swirling them over the sidewalks and streets. Then the rain would pour down, but it seldom managed to catch them off guard; they always had an umbrella ready, to huddle under and keep each other warm when the weather turned dismal. Soon autumn too began to fade, and as the weather rapidly began to cool, the desires of Masuda Takahisa progressively began to heat up.
He amazed himself with the self-control that he had been able to maintain. On the rare occasion that they would get caught in the rain and have to run home dripping wet, Massu would politely turn away as Tegoshi shed his wet clothes for warmer ones. But it became harder and harder to bear each time. He didn't want to turn away. He wanted to turn around, seize Tegoshi... he wanted to go further. And his heart wanted to show Tegoshi how much he really loved him. Of course, it would be a lie to say that it was only his heart. No doubt, there were other parts of him that wanted it even more.
In the beginning, through the end of summer and the season of fall, their relationship progressed surely and quickly, aided by the excitement and curiosity of newfound love. The shy airy kisses became more comfortable, and eventually they became bold enough to explore the depths of each other's mouths. Hands that had only clutched at clothing now ventured underneath, drawing light patterns over skin that shivered slightly underneath the touch.
Then it seemed to all come to a halt. Tegoshi never made any signs of wanting to venture further, and in turn Massu decided not to rush him into anything too quickly.
It was the best thing to do, he decided.
It was a chilly November day, and they had arranged to go on a date. Of course, to everyone else they simply called it an "outing". Massu was waiting for Tegoshi at a small café. He had already ordered a generously sized slice of key lime pie and was sinking his fork into it when Tegoshi seated himself across from him.
Massu set his fork aside for a moment, watching as Tegoshi set his bag down. "Wait long?" the black-haired boy asked, smiling.
"I never have to wait for you very long," Massu assured him, returning the smile. He picked his fork up again as a waiter came over to take Tegoshi's order. "After this, where do you want to go first?"
Tegoshi shrugged his shoulders fluidly, unrolling the utensils from his napkin. "You can choose."
"But this is technically like your birthday date-oh, I know, let's go shopping first and if you find anything nice I'll buy it for you!"
Tegoshi laughed as he put his napkin down and leaned over the table. "Okay. Because you never did buy me a present..."
"The date is my present!" Massu interjected, though he began to have second thoughts about whether a normal date was enough after all.
But Tegoshi was smiling at him; he didn't actually mind. He picked up his spoon as the waiter returned and placed an ice cream sundae in front of him. "As long as Massu is with me, it's okay," he said simply once the waiter had left. Massu couldn't contain his happiness as a large grin spread over his face.
"Ooooh! Massu Massu Massu! Let's go in here first!" Tegoshi tugged on Massu's arm as he dragged him towards the large glass sliding doors of a store. Massu glanced up at the name on the building, expecting it to be some kind of music store, but he was wrong-it was a clothing store. After being called unfashionable for so long, lately Tegoshi had formed a passion for style.
Tegoshi had all but skipped inside of the store and was soon perusing the clothing racks happily. Massu followed him with his hands in his pockets for a bit, making comments about the various articles of clothing that Tegoshi would pull out. Finally he found something he liked and had disappeared into the dressing rooms. Massu wandered over to the belt rack and had picked up a particularly nice one when Tegoshi's voice floated over to him.
"Massuuu, come tell me how this looks..." He turned around to see Tegoshi peeking at him from behind the door of his dressing room. When he came over, Tegoshi stood aside to let him into the tiny room and closed the door behind them, sliding the small metal lock into place. "Well, what do you think?" He asked, stepping back and spreading his arms out. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt that fit snugly on his thin form. Massu couldn't help but notice that the neckline was rather low.
Massu nodded, unconsciously licking his lips as he eyed the nape of Tegoshi's neck. "It looks really good on you. You should buy it."
"Correction, you are buying it for me!" Tegoshi grinned as he began to take the shirt off. As he moved to put his other shirt back on, Massu's arm shot out and caught his wrist. Tegoshi's muscles froze momentarily, and he slowly straightened and turned to look at Massu. "Huh? Do you not want to? You promised to pay, remember?"
Massu shook his head. "Of course I remember that, silly. It was only half an hour ago. That's not it..."
"Then what?" Tegoshi asked, tilting his head in confusion. Massu shook his head at him once again, taking a step closer. He still hadn't let go of Tegoshi's wrist. "Massu, mou, tell me-"
"Shhh." He was hushed. "It's nothing, just..." Massu trailed off as he pressed his lips against Tegoshi's, dropping his wrist and circling his arms around the smaller boy's waist.
Tegoshi, who finally realized what was going on, opened his mouth slightly to permit Massu's tongue. His hands roamed up the other's arms, letting them run over Massu's muscles in a way that had become a habit. Then he suddenly found himself being pinned up against the wall of the dressing room, with Massu gently squeezing his hips. He began to feel uncomfortable. What if there were surveillance cameras somewhere? What is someone found them? Then all the care they had taken to conceal their relationship would be ruined. He broke away from Massu's kiss, turning his head away.
He found himself staring into the dressing room mirror, seeing himself with his back on the wall with Massu pressed up against his front. Imagine if a picture of this was found in the tabloids. Tegoshi pursed his lips.
"Massu... not now. Not here," he said hesitantly, slipping from Massu's arms. When he lifted his gaze, Massu had a weird look on his face; it was an expression that Tegoshi's couldn't quite describe.
"Oh, yeah, of course." Massu said awkwardly. "I kind of lost my sense there. I wouldn't normally do that, you know... um."
Tegoshi frowned to himself. What exactly did that mean? But he quickly pushed the thought aside and grasped Massu's hand in his own. "Come on, let's go pay and then we can do something else. Like... karaoke? Karaoke okay?" Massu pursed his lips, nodding, and Tegoshi could feel him squeeze his hand.
"Un, karaoke is fine. Let's go." Smiling at each other like normal, they slipped out of the dressing room.

Chapter Notes: Yes, yes, yes. FINALLY. I am actually a little reluctant to post this chapter but I figure that you guys have waited long enough. So here it is, the beginning of AAFL II. I'm not sure how long it will be before I get the next chapter out, but I promise to try not to take a million years. (Though maybe I'll purposely take a while so that it'll actually be WINTER when I finish. LOL)
Also, note that I have ESTIMATED that this part will be four chapters long, but it is very possible that it will change. ^^; It's less chapters, but this part has more action than the first one, trust me.
Anyways, I hope this chapter wasn't too disappointing and enjoy! Comments are greatly appreciated! And if you haven't read the first part of An Appetite for Love yet, what are you waiting for?
Go do it!
