It's the only B:TAS season DVD I do not own, I dislike it that much. I was so happy to see a spruced-up version of classic Joker return in Batman Beyond and JLU, for I loathed the Freakazoid-lipless-eyeless Joker.
All that said, perhaps now, in my mellowed-mid-twenties, the time has come to revisit those episodes. Especially after reading your commentary, which has truly provided food for thought.
Finally, have you seen this? http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/MewPuddingCosplay/?action=view&

I didn't see the new animation style episodes the first time around. I think Saturday morning TV didn't pick up the new episodes over here and whatever channel did, I obviously didn't watch. But when I finally did see these episodes I couldn't get over the horrible animation. I can't remember where I read it but someone described the Joker as "a demented animaniac" urgh.
I remember being confused when I saw ROTJ when it premiered on Sky because I could still remember the very early design. However, the ROTJ design was brilliant so it wasn't a BAD confusion.
