*JOKER SPOTLIGHT* The Making of A Reprobate

Sep 01, 2009 22:55

So... the Joker?

Incorrigible, right? Despite Batman's best efforts to get him rehabilitated, despite the asylum striving to find some sort of therapy that will be effective, despite the city pouring money into defence and security, he remains impervious to reason, to any sense of decency, demonstrates no willingness whatsoever to be cured or to fall in line with a law-abiding lifestyle...

Truly a depraved and wicked creature, right? Batman should probably just kill him, right?

But did anyone ever stop to wonder - to consider - that maybe, just maybe, at the root of the Joker's refusal to respond to treatment lies - the Batman?

I dunno. If I had to deal with the humiliation of my captor showing up at my jail cell to mock me over and over again, I might be a little reluctant to behave too.

Seriously, golden-silver age Batman just did this all the damn time! You think Bat-dickery is a contemporary facet? Ha! This isn't even half the times he rocked up at prison to laugh at Mistah J!
