Character History:
Once upon a time, Kuro was a Cat Sith demon who used to be a deity of local silk farmers. He protected them and in return for the protection of the silkworms from mice and other disasters, they gave him a festival or an offering of food and other things. They co-existed well together.
Yet, time changed and the silk industry changed, making the cultivation that had been done outdated. When the ways changed, the people eventually forgot all about Kuro. And he was alone.
He remained at his temple, even though no one came and he wasn't the protective deity of anything. One day, humans came and started to tear it down. As they destroyed the temple, Kuro became enraged and started to attack the equipment that was shattering the statues and other temple parts. Unable to see Kuro, the workers believed that it was a curse. Nothing that the workers tried worked, and eventually they turned to True Cross Academy.
So entered Father Shiro Fujimoto.
He had been selected to kill the protective deity that had become a demon. Yet, he didn't kill Kuro. He understood that Kuro loved actually loved humans and that he was sad to have been forgotten. Offering his hand in friendship, he gave Kuro a peace offering of catnip wine and so Kuro became his familiar.
After that, Kuro 'worked' by guarding the Southern Rear Gate. He wasn't aware of the death of Shiro until he overheard several guards talking about it. Kuro didn't believe that though and thought everyone was lying. He became enraged and went into his giant cat form. To him, Shiro was the greatest and he would never have died. Kuro believed that he would come back and he would wait for him.
Although there was talk about having to kill Kuro, Rin decided that he'd try to speak to Kuro. Rin bluntly told Kuro that 'the dude is dead.' Still not believing it, Kuro called him a liar and charged at Rin. He didn't move though and they ended up butting their heads together. Knocked down, Kuro listened when Rin spoke, for he knew the truth. That Kuro actually loved Shiro and he was sad that he was gone.
Rin offered his hand, just like his father had, and told Kuro that they should resolve their differences. It finally hit home for Kuro that Shiro really was dead and he shrunk back down, crying.
After that, Kuro became Rin's familiar. He tends to travel around on his head and wants to go where Rin is going. He helps Rin train by changing into his giant form and the two of them 'play'.
Personality:
Kuro is a rather interesting character. Initially coming across as angry and possibly harmful to those people on the bridge, the truth is that Kuro actually really loves humans. He's always had a good relationship with people. He was a local deity to the farmers of the area and the humans and he lived well together. He helped them by protecting their silkworms and they in turn threw him festivals or gave him offerings. Times changed though and the people eventually stopped coming. They forgot about Kuro, but Kuro never forgot about them. He is actually a very emotional demon and was sad to have been forgotten. It is thanks to Shiro that he no longer is. After all, who likes to be forgotten?
Kuro is clearly very loyal. To him Shiro was the greatest and he only grew angry because he had overheard guards speaking about Shiro's death. Needless to say, Kuro didn't believe them and he only grew angrier the more people stated that Shiro was dead. Shiro was the one that took him out of the shrine that he had been isolated in and brought him back into the world, letting him guard the gate. Kuro refused to believe anyone and considered them all liars. Who knew that Shiro would come back and so he couldn't die before that. Yet, when he finally understands the truth, Kuro backs down from his aggressive stance and starts to cry out at the loss of Shiro.
The truth is that Kuro is actually pretty childish and innocent. He only got angry because he was in denial, much like a child. He can be rather excitable and clearly enjoys spending time with Rin. Wherever Rin goes, Kuro tags along if he can. He especially likes to play with Rin, which is more training than playing. Kuro's not the sort who would be much help on an intellectual level but that doesn't mean that he isn't good at being supportive. He likes to be helpful such as when Rin is told to go pickup garbage, Kuro directs him to pieces that he spots. He also likes to point things out to Rin that he finds interesting and remembers things that Rin talks about, such as the tower. He finds Rin's flames to be 'so blue and pretty' and cheers him on, saying 'you did it' when Rin succeeds. Even though he is a demon, he is a lot like a cat. He likes to ride around on Rin's head, gives him little butts with his head and even swats at things with his paws. He also has a weakness for catnip wine and gets very excited when he smells it.
Extra:
Character Abilities: Kuro is a Cat Sith demon. As of yet, Kuro has been shown to change his sizes. He can either be a small cat that rides around on Rin’s head, or a cat that is more than big enough to carry someone. He’s agile, fairly strong (as he dented a backhoe that was tearing down his temple), but aside from that, no other abilities have been shown.
Possessions: Just a collar around his neck.
Anything else: Nothing.

Action/Communication thread/post sample:
[He looks like a cat at first glance to anyone that happens to be looking his way, at least pretty much like one. The two tails are a dead giveaway and his features are a bit different. To any that look close enough, there is a collar around his neck.
He's standing on a tall point, looking around, clearly searching. A voice comes... a mental voice, as Kuro doesn't speak regularly. Inquisitive, questioning. ]
(Rin? Rin? Where did you go?)
A paw swat on the wall as two tails swish back and forth. He's not at home. He knows that. He's also not where he was- at least he doesn't think so. It looks different and it smells different.]
(Hey. Hey, what is this? Is this a game? I don't remember playing a game. What type of a game is this? Hide and seek? Hello…?)
Log/Prose sample:
At night, he dreamed. What was time in the land of imagination? He dreamed of times long past, when he was still worshipped. He dreamed of running through fields of silkworms and catching mice. He dreamed of the festivals that they had given him and the offerings that had been laid at his feet. They had been good times, times when people had remembered who he was. He had served a purpose and lived in peace, side by side with the farmers.
He also dreamed from time to time about when they came to destroy his temple… He hadn’t liked that but who would? It was his temple, where he had resided for longer than these people even knew. They couldn’t see him, not anymore, but that hadn’t stopped him from growing angry and protecting what was his. They’d come to destroy, those who used to love him and those who he still loved…
… And then Shiro came. He dreamed of him as well at night. Those were nice dreams- warm dreams- and he had liked Shiro- had loved Shiro. He had understood Kuro and had brought him a present, catnip sake. Then he had left. Kuro was sad by that but not as sad as he could have been. He still missed him, but this time he wasn’t forgotten. No, he had Rin.
It had all changed that day on the bridge, like how it had all changed that day at the temple.
He opened his eyes, glancing over at the sleeping boy who was still sleeping. He’d been working hard today; Kuro knew that, making those pretty blue flames of his. Kuro liked to watch and liked to help if he could. There wasn’t much he could do right now as Rin practiced with the candles, but he could cheer him on and follow him around. It was fun with Rin. He had liked guarding the gate, even if most people couldn’t hear him, because it had given him a purpose, a duty, but he was happy now too. Wherever Rin would go, Kuro would go too. Yes, he’d decided that.
Softly, he stretched from the spot he had fallen asleep on near Rin’s feet and on silent paws he padded up only to curl up beside the young demon’s head, his own face butting against his gently. Yes, nothing would change his mind.
After all, he wasn’t alone anymore.
