Xmas in Vegas is the Best Idea Ever

At least for heathens such as myself.

How was your holiday? Let me know.

One of my highlights was walking down Las Vegas Blvd and being accosted by a terminally-cheery bald man who thrust out "keep Christ in Christmas" flyers. My terminally-hilarious-and-brilliant girlfriend walked right on past while stating: "I'm an atheist" (which she is). His reply was: "Don't give up...I'll pray for you."

That made me giddy in a way I can't describe. I mean, did he realize the ridiculousness of what he was saying? Not the praying for her part - if I thought he would actually concentrate his innate goodness in a prayer for her well-being as a human being...more power to him and I'd thank him for the effort! No, it was the first part: How can you "give up" on something you don't believe in? Giving up or not giving up is not a part os the equation. Melyssa is a non-believer. There's nothing to give up on.

She said to me almost immediately thereafter: "I shouldn't have said anything. I should have just kept walking, I don't want to be an asshole." To which I replied: "Why shouldn't you say something? He was shoving his beliefs into your hands...why can't you state yours?"

Which REALLY is the Christmas spirit to me. All you Christians keep doing your thing vocally, as long as you allow the atheists to be JUST as vocal without getting buttsore. Same goes for folks like me who just keep our yaps shut. We get a say in our choice of nonsay.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
