This is my favorite weekend of the year. People are out and about, taking their Xmas trees for rides and doing holiday shopping, but it's still early enough in the season that the cheer and goodwill hasn't yet evaporated and the stores don't yet look like they were attacked by hoards of pillaging Vikings.
I swept into Spanish class this morning to find...just the teacher. No one else showed up! WTF, man?? So the teacher and I chatted a bit, mostly in English, but some in Spanish, and I showed her the postcards from SPAIN that I'd brought to share with the class, and she gave me some advice regarding what classes to take to meet my language acquisition goals (Adult Ed Conversational II, then moving on to a credit Conversation class). She gave me the handouts for this week so I could study, and we took off, both grateful to have a couple of "found" hours on a busy Saturday.
I made a WalMart run, and got my grocery shopping done, then pottered around a bit and did some more cooking. Made another batch of those yummy chocolate-raspberry cuppy-cakes and popped them in the freezer, so they're all done for holiday giftie plates. And I whipped up a batch of
Drew's Easy Fudge...with the addition of orange extract. OMGHEAVEN!! Orange and chocolate together is my favorite flavor foreverandeveramen, and right now I have a bowlful of chocolaty-orange goodness in my fridge. Hopefully it will actually make it to Xmas so I can include it with gifts!
Next up, a bit of housework, and then I'm going to pack for my trip. I'm thinking I may bake cookies this evening, just to get them done and in the freezer.
Tomorrow: GYM, shower, work, clean litterboxes, finish packing, leave (3PM). Off to Ottawa until Wednesday night. Home for 4 days, and I leave for Mexico on the 12th. Christmas is going to be here in a heartbeat!
