So, my workshop for my story isn't this Thursday, it's NEXT Thursday. I'm so silly. But, I met with my professor for 40 minutes today. Basically, we have to give the professor our story, she tells us what she thinks of it, and then we bring it to the class. For me, I seriously thought she was going to say something like,
"Well, your story is OK, but it's not exactly good. You've got a lot of work to do."
Instead, the first thing she said was,
"You didn't make any changes to it since Tuesday, did you?"
"Uhm, just a few grammar things, but nothing too major. Why?" I asked.
"I think your story is great, and with a few more edits, could be published."
I just sat there with a blank look on my face.
"Are you interested in this being published?" she asked.
"Uhm, yea, I mean, uhm, it's not really..."
She then talked about what she liked about it, and I was really surprised. I guess I'm one of those people who think I'll do something really average and get average feedback. Kinda like a few posts ago said (how I write, but I don't consider myself a writer). Anyway, it was weird for her to talk about my story so openly and tell my what she liked, and what she didn't like. I came away with some great ideas to fix it up and make it better. She told me I was really good with dialogue and asked me if I'd be interested in doing playwriting next semester with her.
She asked me if I ever considered doing playwriting.
"Of course." I lied.
I have to admit that I felt pretty good leaving her office. She was extremely positive. I love that. What I definitely love is that she spoke about other peoples' papers and how hard they were to read and how boring they were, but she said I was an exception. Me? Yea... cool. So, my paper is getting workshopped NEXT Thursday. I'm still nervioso.

I've rediscovered an amazing gem - Hootie and the Blowfish. What happened to me to make me stop listening to them, I don't know. But, I found their CD and put it on my iPod and am loving it. Sweet.

I hope no one thinks I was bragging about my paper. It's not even a 100% sure thing that it will get published, but I just thought it was encouraging to hear that I do something somewhat decently.
