the dumb guy
some people are so dumb, you wonder how they dont fall down more. meet cody: new guy at my place of employment. think a skinny mexican keanu reeves in bill and ted's excellent adventure/bogus journey. example: we are unpacking some seashells, and he puts it up to his ear. then he says, "hey bro, is that really the ocean that you hear in seashells?" to which i reply,"no, that's just air. you can put a cup to your ear and experience the same thing." he puts a cup to his ear. "oh, whoa bro. that's crazy. i always wondered that."
another example: we are outside getting some furniture for someone, and he asks which key to use. i tell him it's the long round one. he holds up a short sqare one and says, "this one?" i pause. i think "seriously?" yes. he is serious.
he has no spatial awareness. he can't imagine how a certain thing would or would not fit into a certain place.
he sucks on sharpies ALL the time, making horrible slurping noises while he talks to you. "hey bro" slurrrrrrrp "can you do the sweep today?" slurrrrrrrp...
he tries to tell employees what to do. there's a hip hop kid who talks all... you know... hip hoppy, and cody tells him its disrespectful and he needs to stop talking like that. on their second conversation. he is also planning on telling one of the girls that she dresses inappropriately. she does, but not enough to warrant a verbal warning, and its not his place.
he constantly talks about tattoos he is going to get. really bad boring tattoos. one arm is going to be a cross with his name in old english. the other arm will be tupac's stomach tattoo that says "thuglife". because tupac is inspirational to him. he is misunderstood. he never believed in the east coast/west coast rivalry. he never did drugs. i wont say i know too much about tupac, but i do recall him flashing the westside sign on more than a few videos. of course i dont say anything. it's like walking into a really messy room wanting to clean. you dont even begin because you dont know where to start.
it's difficult to bring all of you into my shoes on this. i wish i could remember some more things he does. there are a LOT. i just dont know how one person can be so dumb. that's mean. i know, i really do. people can't help it. but i dont think a lot of people are actually dumb. i think a lot of people make dumb choices, which is a completely different thing than being an actual bonafide retard. but this kid is.
