By golly human beings are dumb...

Nov 09, 2007 16:03

So I was sitting in recitation today (which oddly enough I seem to learn more in recitation than in my actual lectures...go figure) and came to the startling realization that: "Damn...human beings are idiots."

For most people who read my LJ you guys probably know that here at UNC we are undergoing severe drought of epic proportions (fine maybe not like that but I like the use of hyperboles...), currently on campus here and at NC State (our dumber relative in Raleigh) there is a competition going on about who can conserve the most water. We have like 60 days left of water on reserve so why the hell are we having a competition like that instead of actually thinking of a good way to A) acquire more water, B) conserve what we have, C) get rid of this idiotic "Battle of the Universities" that has been going on for far too long.

I just think that we have better things to do than that is all. --;

International examples of the human populations stupidity is Finland. Apparently they are allowing fifteen year old children...not teenagers, CHILDREN...the opportunity to buy guns with parental permission. Hmm I wonder what happens when you give a teenager a gun...Oh, I know! They use it against others. What the hell do you think a teenager would do with it? Leave it in his desk to gather dust? NO!

So, an eighteen year old male took his gun and went "Columbine" on his school's ass...literally...I know this sounds insensitive but...really they bought upon themselves to allow things like this to happen.

Another thing I read in the news today (this is why Christina should not read the news...it opens my eyes to the world and I get more and more cynical haha)...Burma is forcing little 10-year-old children into the army...the ARMY...not a daycare...but the army. Total WTF right? Most of these poor children are threatened arrest or just physically beaten until they join up...and then the Burmese Army forges all these documents claiming these CHILDREN are eighteen...well shoot if you wanted a f*ckin' army please...go to Finland and go find some dumb kid carrying a gun around to join your army...

The truly sad thing about the Burmese child soldiers is the fact that the UN has yet to do anything productive about it. They will meet *eventually* to discuss the topic and are encouraged to impose travel restrictions and arms embargoes if it continues...because I'm so sure that it will be of any help...

And also I want to apologize to all those out there that had to read my previous entry of utter emoness...I wasn't feeling too happy with life...myself...my current situation you name it I didn't like it. But after a good night's rest I'm pretty okay...for now. We'll see once the day is over.

So on a brighter note...I almost died yesterday (twice). The first time was at lunch where I almost fell down the escalator because I didn't hold on to the railing for like a millisecond. The second time was actually upstairs in Lenoir where some idiot (again another shining example of how stupid we all really are) left ketchup on the floor that made ME slip and conduct a series of maneuvres worthy of any Matrix film while holding two full plates of food in my hands. Oh and thanks to that my shoes are forever ruined and tainted with the lovely tomato puree.

Before that I had did my laundry only to find...BOTH THE DRYERS I USED WERE FREAKIN'BROKEN...so I had to be super-duper-Asian and hang up the still damp clothes in my room overnight to airdry...--...I swear yesterday was not a good day...

I'm starting to think I really am accident-prone. Just this morning I was walking up some steps to Joyner to pick up some printing when *BAM* I fell on my own two feet right on the steps. Nobody saw but I still felt embarrassed. *sigh*
