The Secret Life of Brittany August.

There once was a girl who loved to cut.
Who hated to eat
But loved to purge.
She loved the boys;
but only if they loved her
(You can imagine what she did
for just a minute of that love.)

There once was a girl who was abused most her life.
She never really was hit too much, except for those few
Special occasions.
But she was forced to think a certain way,
For if she disagreed just once,
Oh boy, Oh boy,
The wrath would fall down.

There once was a girl who didn't understand
Why people cried when they saw the scars.
They were not just skin deep -
They were far much deeper -
But she hid them as well as she could.
(She really was bad at it though.)

There once was a girl who cried too much,
And crying was weakness and the only way to stop that
Was to control.
So she controlled and controlled
But in the end what would you know?
She was the one who was coerced.

There once was a girl who smiled too much
And pretended she was ditsy,
For if one found out the truth
They surely would run.
Although it had happened time and time again,
She thought she was fairly sly.
(Little did she know people could read her like a book)

There once was a girl who saw her true ways,
Didn't like the results
So did everything in her power to change.
And, she really did change
Would you guess how much so?
She's reached her six months of not cutting.
And aren't you proud?
Boy, I sure am.

There is a girl who cries too much
And the only thing she feels is the fact that she's abandoned.
Because only too late did she realize that you can't trust anybody
If you want something done you have to do it yourself
And the more painful it is,
the more you have to come to terms with it.
She's sixteen years old and lives on her own;
She feeds herself, and that's just rarely.
Or, maybe too much.
And if you dare pity her,
She'll never forgive you.

This is the secret life of Brittany August...
Shh, don't tell anybody.
