Author's Note: I got the idea shortly after watching this episode. Hope you enjoy it and thanks to my lovely beta,
blue_icy_rose. And I wanted Mac to play a huge part because I don't know if anyone else noticed, but at the carnival Mac was wearing a shirt that had the word, "LOVE" on it. *giggles* Sorry, it's the shipper in me cheering.
Veronica gritted her teeth as Principal Clemmons walked away with Ms. Hauser, she wanted to say something so badly but she didn’t. As they left the room, leaving JB and Madison behind, Veronica laughed softly. Glancing towards Jackie she grinned slowly as she shrugged her shoulders. It amused her that Madison was beyond pissed and it was something that she somewhat enjoyed doing.
Adjusting her bag on her shoulder, Veronica gave Jackie a small hug as she grabbed her keys from her bag and walked towards her car, as she did, her gaze wandered towards Logan and a familiar blonde girl. Pausing beside her car, Veronica let her keys dangle from her hand as she watched him turn to her, talking to her with a smirk that she recognized all too well.
Then he leaned in to kiss her and Veronica felt her heart drop.
She was supposed to be over Logan, it shouldn’t matter that he was kissing Hannah, the one girl that just so happened to be the daughter of the man that made the anonymous phone call to the Sheriff’s department. As she saw the car pull up and watched Hannah get inside, she waited a few moments before she stuffed her key into her car door after Logan waved through the window.
It made her slightly sick.
She loved Duncan.
There were no feelings for Logan Echolls. None what so ever.
Shaking her head, Veronica tossed her bag inside and shut her eyes a moment before she leaned inside. The tap on her shoulder made her jerk, hitting the back of her head on the inside of the car door, “Ow.”
“Oh, sorry. You okay, Veronica?” Mac said softly as she pushed her hair behind her ear. Veronica turned towards her, smiling a little as she rubbed the back of her head.
“Nothing that a little aspirin won’t fix.” Veronica crossed her arms over her chest, glancing towards Beaver’s car as she watched Dick storm away with Logan shortly after him. She grinned a little and glanced back at Mac. “So, you and Bea-…Cassidy, huh?”
Mac nodded, sliding her hands into her coat pockets. “Mmhm, and it’s going pretty well. I actually helped him with a little revenge on Dick.” Veronica’s eyes widened a bit as she nodded in approval.
“Nice.” She grinned.
“What can I say? Dick deserved a bit of…dick for being one.” Mac laughed a little as she leaned against the car behind her. “Anyways, where are you headin’ off to?”
“I think I’m about to go home. Turns out that Ms. Hauser took some of the money and the rest was stolen by a PCHer…what’s interesting is that some of the money is still missing.” Veronica shrugged.
“There’s the Veronica that we all know and love.” Cassidy said softly as he walked up, wrapping his arm around Mac’s shoulder, “Always thinking of how to solve the latest mystery, what’s the mystery this week Nancy Drew?”
Veronica smiled a little towards Cassidy as she tilted her head.
“Call me that again, Beav and I’ll have to give Mac all the dirt I have on you.” The three of them shared a laugh as Veronica’s gaze caught the familiar yellow Xterra drive by, “Not that she couldn’t find it out anyway.”
“Alright, you win.” Cassidy said, “I’ll go warm up the car, okay Mac?” He asked, glancing towards her. Mac grinned slowly and nodded, leaning in she kissed Beav’s cheek softly as he grasped her hand and gave it a small squeeze.
“Okay. I’ll be there in a sec, I just have to ask Veronica something.” She replied. He nodded slowly and waved to Veronica as he walked away, tossing his keys in his hand. As Mac turned back towards Veronica she smiled a moment and then glanced down.
“You know, Mac, when you want to ask someone to do something for you, it usually helps if you look up at them occasionally.” Veronica joked. Mac laughed a little as she shrugged her shoulders.
“I feel kinda stupid actually. I need a little bit of help with something; it’s this science paper that we have to write. Would you mind coming to school a little earlier tomorrow and helping me out with it?” She asked softly, scuffing the ground with her shoe. Veronica raised a brow for a moment, but then she reminded herself that Mac had done a lot for her in the past so it was only fair.
“Sure. Want to meet here about an hour before?” Veronica asked. Mac nodded and both smiled a bit as they waved to one another and Mac turned to walk towards Beaver’s car. Veronica watched as Mac climbed into the car and leaned in, giving Beav a small kiss.
She sighed.
Valentine’s Day was going to suck.
~*~
Veronica groaned as her alarm blared, beeping constantly. Slamming her hand onto the clock, she glanced up and sighed at the time. If she hadn’t promised Mac that she was going to help her out with Mac’s science paper, she would seriously consider calling in sick and staying in bed.
It was officially Valentine’s Day and Veronica Mars was alone again.
Rolling her eyes, she pushed her comforter away from her body and willed herself to get out of bed. All she would have to do is treat it like any other day and things would be fine and they would all be normal.
Minus the fact that there was going to be hearts and chocolates going around all day and the fact that all the 09ers usually did something incredibly idiotic for their significant other for that day. Getting ready quickly, Veronica shut the door behind her and groaned a little as she noticed the sun just beginning to rise.
Why she had agreed to meet Mac so early in the morning made her wonder if she had any working brain cells. Waiting a few minutes till her car warmed up, Veronica sighed as she drove to school listening to the radio station blare “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer. It almost made Veronica want to throw up just a little.
There was no happy ending when it came to love.
Pulling up to the school, Veronica grabbed her bag and walked towards the front doors, wondering exactly how many teachers were already here, getting their cups of coffee and deciding how to give the Seniors more work. A small smile appeared on Veronica’s face; at least Ms. Hauser wouldn’t be there today, which meant that things would be a little more interesting.
Perking up a bit, Veronica glanced into her Science class, frowning a little when she didn’t see Mac. Giving Mac a few more minutes to get there, Veronica walked towards her locker in order to grab her Science book and the book she was supposed to have read already for AP English. She really couldn’t be blamed for not having read it; it wasn’t her fault that she was needed to take photos of a cheating husband last night. That’s what the cliffnotes was for anyway.
Opening her locker, Veronica frowned as a small paper fell from her locker, bending down she picked it up and unfolded it, seeing Mac’s familiar handwriting.
Had to get a couple things done for Ms. Hauser’s class project - meet me in there.
-Mac
Veronica really didn’t care for the fact that Mac hadn’t bothered to call her and instead had left her a note, but then again, Mac couldn’t be blamed for having been bitten by the dreaded Love Bug. Tucking the note into her pocket, Veronica shut her locker and turned down the hall.
Walking into Ms. Hauser’s classroom, Veronica sighed, as she saw no sign of Mac or even Cassidy. This was just getting a little annoying. Leaning against Ms. Hauser’s desk, Veronica put her bag down on and pushed herself up on the desk so she was sitting on it. There was no reason to care, Ms. Hauser wasn’t going to get any use out of it anytime soon.
Glancing up as she heard footsteps, Veronica felt her heart jump as Logan walked into the room, his eyes darted around as if he was looking for someone else. She raised a brow as Logan pulled out a small white piece of paper from his back pocket and read over it again.
“You wouldn’t by any chance be looking for Beaver would you?” Veronica asked, noticing the confusion on Logan’s face as the exact same kind she had on her own only moments before.
“Uh, yeah. He told me that he needed help with our science paper so he asked me to come by in the morning to help him out. You haven’t seen him have you?” he replied. Veronica smiled a bit as she shook her head and stood up.
“Nope, and I’m guessing you haven’t seen Mac.” When Logan shook his head she sighed, “We were suckered into this.” Logan stared at her for a moment and when he didn’t say anything Veronica turned to walk towards the door, “That’s it, I’m going to find them and when I do, I’m going to punch both of them. Hard,” she muttered.
Just as she reached the door however, Mac pushed Veronica back inside and shut the door, locking it as she waved through window by the door. Veronica reached out and grabbed the handle, groaning as she noticed that the locks had conveniently been changed. It only took Logan a few moments to realize what was going on before he turned towards the second door, only to see it being shut by Beaver.
Both doors had gotten the locks changed on them.
And now Veronica and Logan were locked in the Health Class, alone.
Logan slammed his hand against the door, just as his phone began to ring. Pulling it out of his pocket he answered it, “Beav, you better unlock this door or I swear…” he stopped a moment as Mac and Beaver looked to them through the window.
“Look, the way I see it Logan is that you have two choices. Talk to Veronica, make up and be happy or sit in misery for about three hours.” Beaver replied. Logan glanced towards Veronica.
“Three hours? Beav, school starts in an hour.” Logan retorted. Beaver and Mac laughed a little as they shook their heads.
“Wrong. You see, it’s only six-thirty, school doesn’t start till eight-thirty.” Beaver said. Logan and Veronica immediately glanced at their phones, both which now read six-thirty.
“How did you?” Logan trailed off as Veronica met Mac’s gaze as her friend bit her lower lip and tried to keep from maintaining eye contact.
“Mac did it.” She whispered, “She was able to change the time on our phones through her computer.”
“That still doesn’t explain how, or why, my home alarm clock went off.” Logan said, still talking into his phone and to Veronica at the same time. Veronica glanced down a moment as she tried to figure everything out.
“Did Beav stop by the pent house last night?” she murmured, when Logan nodded she sighed, “Did he go into your room?”
“If by mine you mean Duncan’s old one, then yes.” He replied softly, Veronica nodded as she crossed her arms.
“Wallace stopped by mine, I’m betting that they roped Wallace into this and during a time where we were both out of our rooms - our clocks were set in order to pull off this little charade.” Veronica sighed, “I have to admit, it’s crafty what they pulled.” Logan glanced down to his phone as he shut his eyes.
“Check your phone.” He said. Veronica raised a brow as glanced down to her hand, her phone now showed no signal.
“Mac,” Veronica whispered, “She must’ve hacked into our service providers and suspended our service for a few hours. I guess were stuck here.” Glancing back towards the window, Veronica shook her head as she noticed they were both gone. Sighing, she walked back towards the desk and sat on top of it. “Might as well get comfortable, Echolls, looks like we’re going to be here awhile.”
Veronica leaned back, closing her eyes a moment as she put her hands behind her head, she didn’t notice Logan glancing towards her.
~*~
Logan was tossing a ball back and forth between him and the wall. The thumping of the ball against the wall was driving Veronica insane as she tried to block it out. When she couldn’t, Veronica sat up quickly.
“Would you mind stopping that?” she said, annoyance clear in her tone.
“Oh yes, let me stop my one way of ending this boredom just to make you happy.” Logan spat back, “In case you haven’t noticed, it was your friend that locked us in here.”
“Excuse me?” Veronica said, standing up, “Are you blind or just stupid? Because I clearly remember Beaver standing there beside Mac.” Logan stood up slowly, meeting Veronica’s gaze.
“What can I say? I guess Beav finally figured out that doing things for a girl will get you some great times.” Logan smirked a bit, knowing that his innuendo only annoyed Veronica more.
“Well, apparently he learned from the best. What were you planning on doing to Hannah? Seducing her and then holding it over her Dad in order to get him not to testify against you?” Veronica accused. Logan moved closer, his face just inches from hers.
“So what if I was? I wasn’t actually going to sleep with her or anything - but hey, why not use the fact that I’ll be dating her to stop her Dad from testifying against me, could you seriously blame me?” Logan asked. Veronica rolled her eyes.
“You’re pathetic.” She spat.
“Oh, this coming from the person who sent her boyfriend and his little baby girl off to Mexico to live God knows where.” Logan retorted, grabbing her arms, “Who are you to judge me?” He asked.
“I thought I was your friend.” Veronica replied.
“No, Veronica. Friends are actually there for one another. You ditched me when everything was shitty and you left my side when you dumped me!” He exclaimed.
Before Veronica could respond, Logan’s lips crushed against her own as he backed her up against the desk. Veronica wrapped her arms around his neck, clinging to him. Her hips pressed against his and Logan moaned softly as his hand quickly unbuttoned her pants and he slid his hand under her jeans.
His fingers slid beneath her underwear and as his lips slammed against hers again in an urgent kiss, he felt her warmth as he slowly pushed his fingers inside of her. Veronica moaned softly as she lifted her hips, allowing him to pull her jeans and underwear down. He pulled the zipper of her jacket down quickly, his hand cupping her breast as he pushed the small of her back, rubbing it just a little.
Veronica responded with a small moan as she kissed along his jaw line, running her fingers through his hair. As she pulled away from him, her eyes were slightly glazed over, her lips slightly swollen from their rough kisses.
“What are we doing?” she said softly, trying to slow her breathing down.
“Making up.” Logan replied as he leaned in and kissed her softly. Veronica pushed his jacket off his shoulders, letting it fall to the ground as he pressed his hands against her thighs, trailing his fingers along the inside of her thigh. Her hips moved closer to his fingers in response, she wanted him inside of her.
Before Logan could distract her much longer, Veronica quickly hooked her finger into his belt loop and pulled him against her as she cupped him through his jeans with her other hand. She gave him a soft squeeze, causing Logan’s eyes to roll back just slightly as he moaned softly against her ear.
“Dammit Veronica, you weren’t supposed to be able to do this to me anymore,” he growled as his hands traveled under her shirt and he unclasped her bra.
“Do what?” she murmured as she unzipped his pants, pushing them down so they bunched around his ankles. As they kissed, she wrapped her leg around his waist, pulling him closer. When he was positioned just right, he met her gaze.
“You weren’t supposed to make me love you anymore.” He replied, before she could respond, he slid inside of her, cutting off her moan with a kiss his fingers raked through her hair. He gave them both a moment to adjust, and the feeling of her warmth wrapped around him was something he didn’t want to pull away from anytime soon.
He was afraid he might wake up.
Their foreheads touched as Logan lifted her up and pressed her up against the wall, he wanted to be fully inside of her. Their eyes met again as he thrusted deep within her again. Veronica’s nails raked against his back, almost tearing through his shirt as she tried to keep from crying out. His lips kissed along her neck, and as he gently nipped her skin, Veronica began to meet his thrusts with her hips.
With each thrust, Veronica felt him enter her and fill her completely. It was a perfect fit and there was nothing that compared to it. No one that compared to him. As her fingers grazed across his back and she felt him bury himself fully within her, Veronica knew that there was more between them.
“You, you love me?” She asked between kisses. Logan looked up towards her as he began to quicken his thrusts and as his thumb grazed against her clit, causing Veronica to go over the edge, he smiled slowly as he let himself follow her.
“Never stopped,” he whispered.
As they wrapped their arms around one another, and their breathing began to slow down, Veronica smiled as she glanced up at him, her hand resting just above his heart that still pounded beneath his chest.
“Me either.”
