Novel title - Undecided as of yet
General gist - Harry Potter new gen focusing on Teddy and will eventually come to play on the fact that Teddy begins to identify with Sirius without really realising who he is or what he meant to his father. I touched upon this in one of my fics and I really wanted to try and build on the idea.
Warnings/ratings: G, angsty little Teddy. Idk, he doesn't stay this emo throughout the entire story don't worry. He's just troubled bear with him :)

Feedback would be great. I will refrain from changing the already written pieces at least until this is over but advice for future bits will probably be welcomed with open arms.

Teddy stood with his back to the door leaning over the side of James’ cot. The curtains were half drawn across the window that showed the gloomy weather outside that seemed to cast a gray light over everything. It had certainly dampened Teddy’s mood. He’d wanted to play Quidditch with Ron that afternoon. Instead Ron, Harry, Ginny and Hermione were having ‘adults’ talks in the kitchen that they didn’t think suitable for Teddy’s ears. Which Teddy concluded meant they must be talking about him. Harry gave him an apologetic pat on the head as he was shooed out. Teddy decided that this meant they were definitely talking about him and Harry was feeling guilty. Teddy had kicked around outside the kitchen door until Hermione had put a charm on the door so he couldn’t get within 30 inches of it and had no chance of overhearing anything.

He had slowly made his way upstairs dragging his feet the whole time. The plan was to break something and blame it on the baby. Pushing the door to the nursery open, Teddy had found James asleep. Peering over the cot gazing at this sleeping baby had calmed him. He suddenly felt his hostility drain and was overcome with a desire for James to be awake, for him to talk, for him to come and play.

Thunder rumbled in the distance and Teddy snapped his head up; he didn’t like thunder storms. His hair grew to shoulder length and turned a dark stormy blue. Suddenly a gurgle interrupted his thoughts. He looked down into the cot and saw that baby James had his eyes open and he was smiling. Teddy smiled back and his hair turned into a bright blue colour. James laughed, a real little person laugh. A wide grin spread across Teddy’s face as he offered a little finger to James’ pudgy hand. His tiny fingers grasped onto his and held tight, smiling the whole time.

“How you doing?” asked Harry moving to stand opposite Teddy on the other side of the cot and nodding towards the window where a storm was clearly brewing outside.

“Fine,” said Teddy slightly shocked. He’d been so absorbed in James he’d forgotten all about the storm. His hair had gone back to its normal length but was still bright blue.

Harry smiled at Teddy and ran a hand gently through James’ fluffy hair, the little of it that he did have.

“What were you talking about? Do you not want me to come stay with you anymore? Gran already thinks I come over here too much as it is. I bet its here who’s making you abandon me isn’t it?!” A fire rushed through Teddy making him wrench his finger from the baby’s grasp and ball his hands into fists.

Harry walked round the cot to embrace Teddy, quelling his anger in one move.

“Never,” said Harry to the top of Teddy’s head as he held him to his chest. “Teddy I love you. We all do, don’t let anyone, anyone, poison that.”

Harry bent down to Teddy’s eye level.

“We were discussing the fact that Bill and Fleur are coming back to England with their little girl Victoire. You remember her don’t you? You met her at Christmas the other year.”

Teddy nodded and gave a half smile.

“She talked funny, I remember that.”

“Don’t start teasing her as soon as she gets here!” said Harry with false exasperation. “You have to wait at least a month for her to settle in first.”

They shared a mischievous grin.

James gurgled from his cot.

“I think the baby agrees,” said Teddy with an obvious note of delight in his voice.

“Don’t go getting James in trouble before he can even talk properly. You’ve got to give him a chance too.”

“I suppose,” muttered Teddy before poking James gently in the arm. “Grow up quicker so we can make fun of girls.”

Harry laughed and Teddy joined him. James gurgled a little before managing to break into a giggle. Ron gave a bellowing chortle from the doorway. Harry and Teddy stared in surprise.

“Sorry I didn’t know it was a private party, I thought anyone could join in,” said Ron widening his eyes in mock surprise.

“You’ve been spending way too much time with George, Ron.”

“Oh yea, jealous Harry?” said Ron with a satisfied grin.

“I am,” said Hermione pushing past Ron to stand by Harry near the cot. “All he ever talks about is what George did or said that day, Never mind how his wife is doing or how many house elves she managed to liberate.”

“You know I care really Mione,” said Ron giving his wife a meaningful look which she returned with a slight flush on her cheeks.

“Ron will you stop blocking the doorway. I have trouble moving through this house as it is let alone when you’re standing around making the place look untidy.”

Ron stepped further into the room as a heavily pregnant Ginny squeezed through the door.

“It shouldn’t be too long now, Ginny,” said Hermione offering comfort.

“I should hope not,” Ginny said with a laugh.
“We really should be going anyway,” announced Ron. “Mom’s got Rosie and if we don’t get back there soon she’ll have had time to plan that poor girl’s entire life and charm it into stone.”

“If she’s not too busy practicing her hair cutting charms in anticipation of Bill coming home,” added Ginny smirking.

“Is Uncle Bill the one with hair like this?” said Teddy concentrating hard to get his hair to first turn a carrot orange and then grow down past his shoulders. The adults laughed which only encouraged Teddy to attempt to match Bill facial features. It took a lot of effort and it felt draining but he managed to make some change to his face.

“Blimey,” exclaimed Ron. “And I thought it was creepy when you’re hair turned from blonde to brown.”

Hermione elbowed Ron in the side and gave him a look.

Teddy laughed and lost his concentration causing his face to return to normal and his hair to become short and flash back to blue.

“If you can do that now, imagine what you could do when you get older. Maybe you should think about becoming an auror like you mom,” said Harry knowing the feeling of pride Teddy would feel at hearing that comment.

The boy puffed out his chest and his eyes glittered as he thought about the idea.

“I should be an auror. Then my Gran can be proud of me.”

“We’re already proud of you,” said Ginny sweetly.

“And I’m sure you’re Gran is too,” added Hermione trying to be tactful.

Harry tousled Teddy hair.

“You have something else to look forward to now, mate.”

Teddy kept his hair bright blue for the rest of the evening and worked furiously until he was able to create black streaks through it. A two-tone effect he’d only ever been able to create once before by accident. He decided he would practice little things like that every day until he could be worthy of stepping up to fill his mothers shoes.
