ATHENA: Athena's soul descends from Olympus to Earth every 250 years, where she reincarnates as a human girl. It is a sign that evil once again threatens to consume humanity, and she appears in order to restore hope and protect Earth. In each incarnation since the age of myth, she battles against opposing deities, taking the side of humanity. Her 88 warriors and protectors, called Saints, are reincarnated alongside her to fight the battle for justice. However, she dislikes unnecessary violence, and so fights only defensive wars, and mostly forbids her Saints from using great amounts of destructive power or weapons other than their own bodies.
Born and raised without any knowledge of her true identity at first, each incarnation of Athena has a unique life and personality, despite sharing one soul. (However, it is implied that they can regain memories of their past lives upon awakening as Athena, as well as display common personality traits.) It is said that Athena chose herself to be incarnated as a human each time (despite most gods merely choosing a human vessel to possess), as a way to better understand and connect with humanity.
Sasha is the incarnation of the 18th century.
abilities: As an incarnation of the goddess Athena, Sasha has a great amount of power and several abilities. She does this by harnessing the power of "Cosmo"-- an ability to manipulate atoms (both of her own body and those in the world around her) for self-enhancement and to perform various techniques. Each person has a unique way of utilizing this power, but it generally improves upon strength, speed, and endurance. Even as a small child, once awakened as "Athena", Sasha's Cosmo is said to greatly exceed that of any mortal.
As the Goddess of War, Sasha has an army of divine warriors at her disposal, but will rarely actively participate in battles herself. She instead takes on a supporting role-- Her powers can be used to greatly enhance the abilities of others, give them strength, protect them from harm, or even heal them. A good deal of this is done through a manner of prayer, and requires concentration. Examples of this are barriers within which everything is under her direct influence (preventing immortals from reviving), and, as seen in the main series, the ability to keep the powers of other gods somewhat at bay (preventing Poseidon from flooding the land entirely). She can additionally erect defensive shields of varying sizes.
Despite the fact that her body is a mortal one, it still takes on divine properties. Athena's blood is especially potent, able to be used to grant blessings to even ordinary objects. Specifically, it is used in the creation of talismans that act as seals. These talismans repel and even nullify a god's power, and used in the right way can seal away the god entirely. Placed upon the trapping of a god's soul, it is effective at keeping it imprisoned for a good few centuries (but not forever, as inevitably they will lose their potency and need to be replaced).
If Athena's blood is ever introduced into the bloodstream of a mortal, it greatly enhances that person's power and endurance. However, it is at great risk to that person, as the human heart can often not bear the strain of such an enormous power. There is the possibility of the body rejecting it entirely, and the initial introduction of the blood can lead to hours of agony and exhaustion until it adapts. It can save a person from near-death and grant them a power like no other, but their heart will beat at a much faster pace to compensate, and this will endanger their mortality in the long run.
Sasha can also grant blessings to objects by prayer. Objects imbued with Athena's prayers have protective properties, guarding a person's soul against potential threats and repelling evil. There are also certain blessings she can place on people directly, such as one that slows the beating of a person's heart (to counteract the effects of her blood, in some cases), and allows them to live for several times the lifespan of an average human. (This also has drawbacks, however, as the person can no longer move freely due to the slow pace of their heartbeat. In essence, there are almost always consequences for a mortal using too much of a god's power.)
It's also said that a great deal of Athena's power lies even in the strands of her hair. By cutting it off, one can use it to seal her powers and reduce her to an ordinary girl. (Note that this won't happen just by the act of cutting it off alone.)
Sasha is capable of a certain kind of clairvoyance, able to sense powers inside other people and identify fellow gods. This includes telepathic communication, and can be done even over a great distance. Likewise, she can also tell when a person she knows becomes severely injured or dies even if she isn't present to see it.
She has her own armor, and after donning it her power is increased dramatically and she is capable of flight. This armor is a God Cloth, the strongest level of armor from her universe, and can withstand an enormous amount of damage. Her staff, Nike, is used both to supplement her power and as a piercing weapon if necessary. The Aegis shield has an even higher defense than the rest of her armor, and the light it reflects can be used to cleanse evil.
