So what with me leaving for Niger in two weeks (eek!) I've been thinking about what to do with my livejournal. While I was in China I had another one focused on travel, and it's possible that I might update that from time to time when I have internet access. It certainly seems likely that I'll at least post some pictures there. But what with the way things are going in my life and the fact that many employers now do extensive research on job candidates (often using the internet), I've decided that this version (which has been around since high school and contains plenty of embarrassing things) will become friends-only. I've also decided to take some of my info off of facebook since I won't be using it much these next two years.

In a way it makes me sad, because I've always enjoyed reading random people's blogs, and if everyone restricted access to their writing, a lot of what makes the internet so great would be gone. But this journal has too much history, and much of it no longer reflects me accurately. I haven't taken the proper precautions to ensure my anonymity, and besides, the loss is minimal as I doubt that very many strangers would find my stories interesting. I will, of course, continue to read everyone else's livejournals and post occasional friends-only entries.
