I've been doing what feelsl ike very little sewing lately. Which is NOT good as I'm trying to get an update ready for the shop next week, and I don't feel like I have enough new exciting stuff! sigh!
But I do have a few sneaky peeks of some of the things that will be featured in the update if you're inerested : ). I've been making a few more of the suspender skirts, I have about half a dozen I think now. Here are my favourites (in all their unironed glory):
I've also been fiddling with making a few brooches. Brooches aren't usually my 'thing', and these to me don't feel overly original, but I sort of like how they turned out.
They're padded fabric on a leather base (sorry vegans! I found the leather bits for $1 at the thrift store if that helps..) and adorned with all sorts of lovely vintage buttons, plastic flowers, sequins and bits of broken costume jewellery. They don't have any way to attach to anything yet, but they'll have brooch backs next time I go to spotlight : ) I made five, here are my favourite two (you can see the rest on my flickr
here! )
And while I'm actually writing an entry, can I also let you in on something amazing? I might have already mentioned her but I need to reiterate: My flickr friend Rachelle (See her on flickr
here! and her blog
here!) makes the most awesome kids t-shirts you will ever come accross! I throughly recommend you buy your child, or someone elses, a t-shirt with one of Rachelle's incredible scrappers bears on it!
Here's Aesop in one if his that I got at
craftwerk last month. All the small sizes sold out early but I loved them so much I bought one in a size too big and one two sizes too big! So now I Aesop has to wear multiple tops underneath, but hey.. at least he's looking cool. ha.
