It looks like Hancock County and the rest of southern Mississippi has gotten wet but is ok. The winds were between 30 and 80mph, but not enough to blow down buildings and flood it too terrible. We have reports from people on the ground saying they are ok. NOLa also seems to have gotten through this rather damp, but friends in the area tell me the levees have held and they are ok.
The big question is west of NOLa where the storm hit. It made landfall as a cat 2 hurricane, which was less than Katrina but still possesses plenty of destructive ability. The group I am a part of, the Mississippi Medical Assistance Team, has been in constant communication with out friends who run the Hancock County
EOC and have alerted us that they are kinda bored. Thank G-d.
More information as it becomes available. West of NOLa is still in the dark and there may be a job to do yet.
