Our beautiful daughter was born on Monday, July 7th at 1:13pm :) She arrived two weeks & one day early (edd: July 22nd). Here is our story copied from my myspace.
On Monday morning, around 3:30am I woke up to go to the bathroom & noticed I was having a contraction that was a little more painful than usual. I laid back down and the contractions kept coming, 10 minutes apart. I got up with Nathan at 4:45am while he got ready for work. They were still coming 10 minutes apart. I decided I would call my doctor at 8 & see what she thought. I told Nathan to go ahead & go to work & I would call if anything changed. He left at 5:15 & pretty much as soon as he pulled out of the driveway, my water broke. lol So I called Nathan but I told him I wasn't for SURE so to keep on going to work. Well after I hung up with him I sat down to play a game of solitaire.. and then a BIG gush came & I knew for sure that my water had broken. lol So I called him back & he said he was pulling in to work & he would tell them & see what they said. They told him to go right back home because if my water had broken I was having a baby soon, lol. So Nathan gets back home & I call the hospital & they tell me to go ahead & come in. Well, I didn't have a bag packed or anything so I start working on that & I took a shower. We got to the hospital around 7am. They checked me and I was 3-4cm dilated & 90% effaced. By this point my contractions were coming every 7 minutes. Now the rest of this story gets REALLY hazy to me & it's pretty much just info Nathan has told me because I don't really remember anything. My platelets were too low & I wasn't allowed to get an epidural so they gave me some stadol. All that did was make me loopy between contractions, but everytime I had a contraction, it hurt like crazy. They were also giving me pitocin because Aubrey's head was so low they didn't want her to be stuck in the birth canal for too long so they were trying to make my contractions stronger & closer together. So since the stadol wasn't really helping me & I couldn't get an epidural, I begged for something else. Well they decided to give me demerol. They should have checked me before giving it to me but didnt... so they give me demerol AND then check me & I'm 9cm dilated. So here I am just about ready to push & I am knocked out!! I think Nathan said I was 10cm at 11:30... then I had a seizure from my blood pressure getting too high around 12:30. They ended up using the vacuum on me because I just couldn't wake up enough to push. I really have no memory of any of this at all. Finally, at 1:13pm, Aubrey was born :) Weighing a wee 5lbs 6oz, 18.5in long. She is so tiny! So that is our crazy story. Oh and I also had an allergic reaction to the penicillin they were giving me for being GBS positive. lol It was pretty crazy but TOTALLY worth it of course :) I'm surprised she came early since she was my first.. I was 37 weeks 6 days :)
Aubrey looks just like her daddy, so of course she is adorable :) So far she is a very good baby & we're hoping she stays that way!
