"The "what should be" never did exist, but people keep trying to live up to it. There is no "what should be," there is only what is."
l Lenny Bruce
The day I stopped focusing on what I didn't have, what team I wasn't on, and how hard I wasn't trying, things got easier. Instead of sitting back and focusing on any of that I went out to the pro tryouts. I showed up every guy there. I came back from the brink, from being in a wheel chair and now I'm a Charleston Chief.
I don't know what should be because to me what should be is what is. I have everything I've ever wanted and you know what, if I didn't have basketball, if I wasn't a Charleston Chief I'd still have what I've always wanted because I have Haley and I have Jamie. And they are what matter to me. They, Lucas, Brooke, Peyton, Skills, Deb. All of my friends and family are what matter.
This is my second chance and I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to make it to the NBA and if I don't (and I know I'm contradicting myself but bear with me) -- then I'll be fine.
How's that for not living up to what should be - but what is?
