Cindy POV
It was unbearable. “I'm not some kind of meat that you can just marry off to settle payment for a house or barn. I'm not a token of your friendship with this man, and I most certainly am not a will-less girl with nothing better to do than sit here and let you dictate my life.” Those were the words that I wanted to say as my father announced that I would be marrying my closest childhood friend, Joongki, but I knew whatever I said would be useless.
He was an old fashioned person who believed that as long as he was the one who clothed and fed me, he somehow owned me. It had always been this way. He never complained about my other 3 sisters, who were always shopping. I wondered to myself why he didn't marry one of them off instead, but then I realized that it was because it was me. It was always me.
I looked up as Ria walked into my bedroom. By the look on her face, she had already gotten my angry text, and I could see that she had brought me something since she had a bag in her hand. “Here, I brought you some peach ice cream.” I smiled, even though I seriously didn't want to. I couldn't resist though, I absolutely adore peaches.
Before we knew it, hours had past and we spent the whole time talking about how unfair it all was. Even though her parents were also strict, she didn't even have to be engaged to someone she didn't even love. Well, don't get me wrong. I love Oppa, I just... It's not fair if he doesn't ask me out of his own free will. Forced love isn't real love at all.
I checked the clock as Ria texted her brother to tell him she wouldn't be home, it was already 3am and we had school tomorrow. With a sigh, I collapsed on my bed and made a pouty face as she laughed at something he had written back to her. “Yah, Kyung says that you should take advantage of the situation. At least you get to have premarital sex.” She laughed crazily as I threw a pillow at her furiously. I couldn't even think about kissing him, let alone other things!
It was early in the morning and the girls dragged themselves to their classes, sitting through each subject with boredom until their morning vocal exercise class. Neither of their parents were happy about their decision to attend a high school that focused on the arts, but after long hours of arguing back and forth, they finally decided that, as long as they kept their grades up, it would be fine.
As they sat at their desks, they observed the students that they would be spending the rest of the year in the same room with. There were three girls who were extremely noticeable, with pretty long legs and perfect hair, they walked in and smirked at them. Ah, they must be the popular girls. Across the room from them were 2 guys who were hunched over their desks and devouring some sort of food. Cindy's stomach twitched in hunger from the delicious smell, and she put a hand over it as she scowled to herself.
'It was your own decision to skip breakfast, now is not the time to regret and get hungry.' She told herself that countless times as the room filled up, and before she knew it everyone was looking up at a young man with bright red hair. “Good morning everyone. I'm Kim Donghyun, your teacher for this year.” There were sounds of surprise as people muttered amongst themselves, the most common expression being, 'wahh he's so young.' Great. They were going to have an idol teacher who would have fans flocking to him everywhere he would go.
“Today I want to explain to you why you're in this class.” He smiled, causing the majority of the girls in class to swoon, and continued to speak as Cindy and Ria zoned him out. While he was completely Ria's type, she was disgusted at how many people were fawning over him just because of his looks. For all they knew, he could be some pervert guy who was into high school kids. She frowned, quite noticeably, and stared out of the window in complete disinterest. That was the only way these types of people should be dealt with.
“Miss Park?” She looked up and came face to face with him. 'Ah, he has a nice face even close up.' Her thoughts wanted to make her heart flutter, but her self control was much stronger than other people's, and she merely blinked a few times as she tried to register why he would he in her face. “If my class is so boring, why don't you write me an essay on how to improve?” He smiled at her as the whole class snickered, and she rolled her eyes in annoyance. “There's no need for that Sunsaeng-nim. I could tell you how to improve the lesson in less than 5 words.”
He raised his eyebrows, clearly amused by her attitude, and put his elbows on her desk. “Ah? And what's that/' She smiled sweetly, and leaned forward just enough to seem bold yet not slutty, and whispered, “Find a different teacher.” His face fell, heat rising to his cheeks as he leaned back, and for rest of the day he seemed disoriented, and only seemed to focus when it came to assigning homework to the student who seemed intent on showing just how much she disliked him.

It was lunchtime, and the girls were happily stuffing their faces as their small group of friends gathered around them. Sunny was making faces with her food as she vowed to make it look like Tiffany, and Sungmin was feeding Kangin his lunch while giggling about how messy his face was. Ria often wondered how they managed to hang around such sugary people and still have teeth, but smiled when she remembered just how much they had all been through together.
When they had first gone to school, she had absolutely no friends. Being a quiet person who rarely smiled, she had gotten the reputation of being an ice queen. The girls didn't like her due to the fact that she was unbeatable at singing and dancing, and the boys were either scared of her or picked on her because of the hatred the other girls held for her. It was when Cindy had transferred into the school that she had made any friends, and the people she talked to then that had caused her to not be alone this year.
Looking up, she nudged Cindy and pointed at Joongki, who was walking toward them with a flowery smile on his arguably perfect face. Watching her friend blush, she sang out, “Here comes the groom, doom doom doom doom~” only to get kicked from under the table. Being glared at by her friend, Cindy quickly scooted over, allowing room for him to sit there with them. She had always had a crush on him. Even when they were little, he was always protecting her and making sure she was kept happy.
He was her prince, and more that anything she wanted to be his princess. But you can't always have what you want. And while she was his betrothed, she most definitely wasn't his princess. That much was obvious as his gave turned from them to a girl across the room. With stunning looks and milky skin, she caught his gaze and smiled sweetly. With a blush, he waved excitedly and she waved back, a small feminine wave that seemed must more suited to royalty. Indeed, she was his princess.
She walked over to him and he motioned for her to sit at the table with them, to which she quickly obliged. Her heart sank as she watched the small interactions, and when he sat down beside her she merely poked at her rice with disinterest. Ria have her a sympathetic look as he started up a conversation with their friends, and she merely shook he head as she held it down, hoping to the fullest that her tears wouldn't dare fall until she was safe at home where no one, especially him, could see. Excusing herself, she decided to take a walk before lunch was over.
In an epic search for a private place to let her tears fall, she heard voices coming from behind the stairs. “Yah! Why don't you like me? Am I not good enough? Popular enough?!” Her eyes widened as she saw the blonde girl from their vocal class shove away some boy with a bad haircut. “I 'm just not intereste-” He was cut off as she knocked his books out of his hands and glared. “Did I say you could speak? You presumptuous jerk!” He quivered at her angry shouts, and Cindy found herself in the motions to go beat her to death.
However, a boy walked by, seeing them together, and the girl stared crying. “Oppa, this boy won't stop following me,” Cindy was overwhelmed with disgust as the other boy glared at the weird haircut kid, and she watched as the guy wrapped around the person she assumed was his girlfriend. “Yah. Come near ___sshi again and I'll kill you.” The smaller boy nodded in terror, and watched as they stormed away. So not all pretty boys are like the ones in movies. She stared from her corner, startled as he bumped into her on his way out, and , while she wanted to somehow make him feel better, she merely watched as he left.

They walked into their performing arts class, and much to Ria's un-amusement Donghyun sat on the top of the platform and smirked at her. “Was there a massive budget cut this year or something?” She mumbled to Cindy, who trudged her way to her desk, and her friend sighed. “I think he said something about filling in for the actual teacher of the vocal classes.” With a pout, she head-desked and closed her eyes. Yes, if she couldn't see him, then he wasn't there. While reveling in her genius, she didn't notice how he stared at her in deep thought.
“Are you quick on your feet?” He smiled and she raised her head as if she had no energy. “If there's a bug after her.” Cindy called, and Ria made a face as he laughed. 'His laugh is nice too.' She pouted, and soon enough she found herself in a conversation with him about dancing and their tastes in music. The only thing that kept her from spontaneously leaving was the fact that she was actually learning about music that she enjoyed and that he might have more on hand.
As Cindy found herself alone, she began to let her eyes wander around the room, until they fell upon the boy who stared blankly into space, His haircut was absolutely ridiculous looking, and she had to force herself not to laugh as she wondered why anyone would ever want to cut their bangs an inch above their eyebrows. Was he Spock or something? By the looks of it, he was a flower boy, and presents adorned his desk, filling the space surrounding it and making it nearly impossible to walk by it. Ah, he must be really popular. Popular but defenseless.
When her eyes turned to look back at him, their eyes met, and she quickly looked away, hiding her face with her book. 'Ugh, why did I do that? It's not going to change the fact that he saw me staring at him,' She mentally clobbered herself, face-palming at her actions and sobbing inwardly. 'Why would I even care? He's just some stupid pretty boy.'
