Things That Make Me Happy*
(because I need this list today)
-Edy's Slow-Churned Light French Silk ice cream. Fucking YUM.
-Cooking food that turns out delicious, then feeding it to people I love.
-This time of year: the exact point when summer melts into autumn and everything is a blur of sunshine and breeze and bitter/sweet nostalgia.
-This time of year: the smell of fresh, virgin crayons. Crayola.
-Cold rainy days spent wrapped in my down blanket, wrapped in a great book.
-There are times when I write and I'm able to open some weird portal to my heart; I can say everything I mean to say exactly how I mean to say it. Then it feels like goodness and truth is pouring through me, and that makes me happy.
-Connecting with strangers, unexpectedly.
-Walking into a library and breathing in the scent of books.
-Long walks with my dog and my iPod.
-The way my fiance gives me small, surprise gifts. Last weekend, after quickly running to the store for soda, he gave me five sticks of lovely-smelling incense. It's such a me gift. I'd rather have incense and mums (my favorite) from the grocery store than all the jewelry in the world.
-Watching a movie in bed. With lots of pillows.
