Swimmers are due to arrive today!!

I can barely concentrate today, what with everything we have going on… but, first things first, a photo of my birthday celebration:

Shasta took me to the cutest little winery downtown, and we enjoyed a wine-tasting paired with a gourmet cupcake. It was so much fun - they make several really delicious fruit wines there. The Blackberry Merlot was our favorite, so we got a bottle to take home… but the thing is, I probably won’t be able to drink it for a good year and a half or so. Well, assuming that we do, in fact, get pregnant this weekend. >D I was planning on cutting all alcohol out of my diet months ago (and for the most part I have) but I can’t turn down wine on my birthday. *grins*

Our little swimmers are scheduled to arrive today via Fedex. So excited!! I asked Shasta to be sure and text or call me when it gets there. It’s so hard to sit at work and wait when I’d rather be home, anxiously watching for the mailman. *grins* Not that we can do anything with the package right away, since I have to wait for a positive ovulation test first, but right now it’s just super exciting to know that in a short time the tank will be sitting in our bedroom waiting for us… SQUEE.

We’ve decided to do our inseminations at 12 and 24 hours past a positive OPK test. To that end, I’ve been peeing on sticks every four hours for the last two days to be sure I don’t miss it. (Along with taking prenatals, royal jelly, baby aspirin, fish oil, calcium, magnesium, and mucinex daily, AND drinking my weight in grapefruit juice. And charting my basal temperatures every morning and checking cervical stuff throughout the day. This babymaking stuff is seriously time-consuming!!!)

I also ripped the audio tracks off of my Fertility Yoga DVDs, since I’ve done the routines so many times now that I don’t really need visual assistance to get through them anymore. I loaded them on my iPod so that I can close my office door over lunch breaks and do my yoga; I’ve only tried it the past couple days but it seems to fit my schedule really well to be able to do the routines during the day instead of at night when I get home from work.

Things remaining on my to-do list: I need to research and select a prenatal yoga DVD. From what I’ve seen thus far it looks like I’ll actually be able to do more challenging workouts whilst pregnant than I do with the fertility yoga, which is more stretching and meditation than actual working out - so I’m looking forward to that. Once I get a BFP (big fat positive, in babymaking language) on a pregnancy test I want to be able to switch over smoothly to a prenatal routine.

And second, I need to buy myself some pregnancy tests. I have a couple of freebie strips that came with the Preseed we ordered, but I want to get a few “real” ones. Someone on one of the forums I frequent recommends using lined tests first and the digital only to confirm, because seeing only one line is not as discouraging as those digital words “Not Pregnant.” There was a time when I would have said that was kind of silly, but now that I’m actually gearing up for our first try it makes perfect sense. Waiting for two weeks to find out if you were successful is hard enough. Some women get positive pregnancy tests as early as 10 days after ovulation, but more often the tests aren’t positive until day 12-14. Now that I’m starting to think about how I might have to spend two or three days disappointed over negative results before getting a positive (that is, of course, IF I get a positive) I can completely see where a single line (that could maybe become a double line in a day or two) is more hopeful than a stark “Not Pregnant” result. :P

Anyway, in addition to looking forward to the babymaking stuff, we’re also looking forward to Pride this weekend, yay!! We missed it last year since Shasta’s dad was in town and spending time with him was more important since she only gets to see her parents a few times a year (she’s such a daddy’s girl, it’s sooo cute ♥) so we’re extra excited to go this year. I think we might take the light rail, though… parking downtown for Pride is a nightmare. :P

Also, I went to the State’s annual child support awards banquet last night and our county won Best (Medium Sized) County for the second year in a row!! So there’s lots of excitement in my department today.

So all good and exciting things going on… but I’m so looking forward to everything that it’s hard not to get lost in daydreams today. :P
