So we’ve hit June at last. It always felt like such an eternity away and now it’s finally here… and our TTC journey’s about to kick off. My desk looks like a pharmacy, what with all the vitamin bottles piled on it… I am mailing off the registration paperwork for the sperm bank today, and ordered some various-and-sundry supplies from Amazon. If my body follows its regular patterns we should be attempting our first insemination over the weekend of June 18th - and interestingly enough, that is Pride weekend. Go figure. :P How very poetic would it be to get pregnant during Pride, hehe…
The original bank we wanted to use, Midwest, had sadly shut down earlier this year. Though they will reopen this month their new pricing schedule makes them more expensive than Northwest, which was originally our second choice bank and has now become our first. :P I always did like the forums at Northwest better anyway, and they have a wider selection of donors.
Shasta gets final say on the donor we use, though much of the decision may just depend on who’s readily available when we’re ready to order… She really wants a donor with athletic inclinations. I’m hoping for curly/wavy hair (let’s give the kid at least a chance at a little wave in their hair) and good eyesight, as well as no pet allergies and preferably, proven pregnancies. Once we get registered we’re going to have them do a photo match to Shasta as well.
In the meantime, we finally (as of last weekend) finished the tiling in our master bath. Oh my everlovinglord what a project it has been. This weekend we need to get the tile work cleaned up and the seams neatly chipped out, and then we’re paying an associate of my dad’s to come out and grout the whole thing with epoxy grout, which is evidently very difficult to work with and easy to ruin an entire project if not done perfectly, so we’re letting that piece be taken care of by a professional. Once the grout’s done it’s on to paint, installing the shower door and toilet, putting the door trim back on, and whatever other decorating we want to do. Seriously, though, this has been so much work for such a tiny space. We still haven’t tackled our counters and sinks yet, but I think we’re going to take a little breather before we get started there. It will just be nice to have the use of our shower back again.
We’re also dog-sitting for Shasta’s brother’s three small dogs right now, which means we have five dogs and three cats running around the house at the moment. A few too many. O.o Thankfully our guests will be returning home this weekend!
Sorry for all the quiet lately -- between my writing projects, our honeymoon and anniversary and the home improvement stuff we just haven't had much time to journal! Will very likely be getting better at it, though, in the next few weeks... it's going to be a really interesting month, for sure!!
Oh, and P.S. - if you want to check out photos of our Hawaii trip
they're up on flickr here.
