Fence Project...

We’ve spent the last two weekends setting fence posts around our backyard. 35 of them, to be precise. This means using a hand-held post hole digger to dig 35 two-foot-deep holes, then dropping an 8-foot-long 4 x 4 post into each one, mixing up 60 lbs of cement in a bucket and shoveling it into the hole. *flexes muscles*

We did 19 posts last weekend, 16 this past weekend, and then went around and stained them all with a nice deck stain/sealer that will hopefully keep them looking nice for a good long while. Next weekend we have to put up the rails, and the weekend after that, all the pickets. I’m guessing the following weekend we’ll finish everything up (the stain and the gates we’re installing). So with any luck we’ll have the fence project done by early November… just in time for winter.

Have been MIA from the internet most of this time out of sheer exhaustion. Tell you what, though, I’ve never felt more bad-ass butch than I have the past couple of weekends, out there sweating in the sun with a big stash of landscaping tools. :P Projects like these always remind me of how much stronger Shasta is, though. I feel like such a wimp next to her - she can carry those bags of concrete like they’re nothing and dig a hole twice as fast as me! We took a bunch of pics so as soon as I get the chance to pull them off the camera I’ll share them. :P

Once we get this project done we can finally start on our master bathroom, which is a project I’m really looking forward to… We’ve been using the shower in our basement for over a year now and I cannot WAIT to get our lovely two-headed shower upstairs working again.

Today, though, I’m staring at my computer screen in a bit of a bleary haze. Can’t quite seem to wake up no matter how much coffee I drink. *sigh* And, my aunt is in town so we’re driving down to the Springs after work for dinner with my family - a chance to return my dad’s post hole digger while borrowing his pneumatic nailer and air compressor for the second phase of the fence project.

*yawns* It’s not even noon yet and I’m already so tired!!!
