Wicked, last night, was AWESOME. I have developed a huge girl-crush on
Donna Vivino as Elphaba. :P OMG she's hot, green skin and all... and that voice. *fans cheeks* Shasta loved this show as much as I did and we both agreed we liked it better than Phantom. (And Van, you are SO RIGHT. All of Oz's problems could have been resolved so much easier if Glinda and Elphaba had just hooked up. :P)

Anyway, Glinda was HILARIOUS. And Elphaba had some great straight-faced zinger lines, too, that had us rolling.... "There's no place like home." HAHAHAHA!!!
But the COSTUMES. Oh, the costumes... I kept seeing outfit after outfit in the ensemble that I would just love to make, all the smart Victorian jackets and full skirts and so many many amazing shoes. *drool* Elphaba's dress in the second half of the show is nothing less than a miracle of fabric. I watched a behind-the-scenes video where Donna says that the dress weighs something like 30 lbs and is made out of more than 40 different fabrics. O.o And Glinda has at least 3 or 4 dresses that decidedly look like corset tops, only they're not laced up at all in the back. How oh how did they get such a stiff snug corset SHAPE without actually corsetting?
Anyway, also loved how well the new story tied together all the details from the original. So much of it is stuck in your head long after you leave the theater, thinking of these characters and where their lives took them and why they chose the paths they did... I love a story that sticks with you.
So anyway, it was an awesome time and we loved it... definitely the best theater show we've ever seen. ♥ What a great date!
On a slightly less euphoric note, however, I woke up this morning to find that it was snowing. BOO. And then I slammed my thumb in the car door as I was going to close the garage, and had to drive to work with my whole hand elevated and the adrenaline rush making me feel queasy and oddly panicky. It feels a little better now that I'm at work and was able to take a couple Tylenol... but I have a lovely purple and blue spot under my thumbnail. *sigh*
Also, I just really don't feel like working much lately. I have the sewing bug, BAD. By the time I get home from work, do my little workout, shower, and eat dinner, I don't really have time to get any sewing in. I'm all out of money, too, so I can't buy any more lining fabric, which I need before I can make any further progress on my wedding gown. And while I have a box of fabric and another box of patterns, I don't have *enough* of the right fabrics to make any of the patterns that I would use them for. Frustrating. I'm hoping maybe this weekend I can squeeze at least a couple of projects in?
I even got around to taking in a few of the suits that I bought last year and have been sitting around in storage waiting for alterations before I could wear them. I now have three new suits for work, and just in time, too, as they're all long-sleeved and will be good for the colder weather. But it's not the same as actually making something myself. :P
