Shasta was pretty sick most of the weekend :( but we still managed to get out to
Elitch Gardens on Saturday afternoon for a little long-overdue summer fun. We did have a pretty great time, too, though we ended up spending the majority of our time there standing in lines for rides. :P Also, our tummies weren't feeling particularly durable that day so we only went on the tame "family" rides... no roller coasters for us!! But, I have another set of tickets (my work was doing a buy 3, get 1 free promotion) so we're going to go back another day this summer when we're hopefully both feeling a little more up to it so we can try out the crazier rides... and the water park. ^^
Anyway, here's a little scrapbook of our trip:
The sign by the entrance. Actually, they have these throughout the park. :P
The first ride we went on. This one has always been my favorite 'cause it feels like flying!!
The new version of the swings ride -- this one goes up much higher and has bench-type seats instead of individual swings. I liked this one even better though it does mess with your tummy a little more. Oh, and you have a lever to move those wings side to side, which does absolutely nothing whatsoever. :P
This was the part I was looking forward to most -- since I was a teenager I've always secretly wanted to go on a romantic amusement-park date and get kissed on a ferris wheel. *^^* So Shasta made that happen for me!!
Haven't quite mastered the proper focus when taking self-portraits...
View of the park from the top of the wheel!!
We rode the carousel...
... And tried on funny light-up headbands in the stores ...
But the very best thing we did all day was go to the sea lion show!!!
The sea lions were SO cute... and incredibly talented.
After the show you could have your picture taken with the two sea lion girls, who would give you hugs. The kids in the audience really loved this ... except for one little baby, who got very upset when Rose (the sea lion on the right) kept trying to "kiss" him. The more upset the baby got, the more worried Rose got and the harder she tried to give him kisses. :P It was so cute!
Shasta and I got our picture taken too... which was awesome!! This is actually a photo of the photo, because we bought a picture frame the next day and hung it on our "Wall of Adventure" at home (next to our rafting pic and the photos of our indoor skydiving.) We were both really happy with how the pic turned out!! (And you'd never guess that Shasta wasn't feeling well...)
I also took a couple of short videos of the sea lion show because they were just sooo cute.

Here they show off their ball-handling skillz!

And my personal favorite, where Stella the sea lion moonwalks for the audience. :P
We spent Sunday mostly lying around as after a day of such excitement neither of us felt very well. We watched a stack of movies and cuddled the babies. :)
Coming up next weekend: Garage Sale. Oh boy. :P
