Another working weekend...

Oh, I am SO tired. *sigh* We had an incredibly eventful weekend, but as usual, very little of it was happy-summer-fun... most of it was work work work on the house. :P

We did go out on Friday night, though, to our friend Jody's new nightclub called Her Bar. Had a great time, some yummy drinks and good dancing (though as usual I pooped out wayyy before Shasta did...) and got to say hi to Jody and her GF and a few other people we know.

But Saturday we got up, made a trip to Lowes, and spent nearly all day installing a new ceiling fan in the living room.

This picture shows black blades but we have the cherry side showing... anyway, this is Hunter's "Five Minute Fan" model, which we got off Craigslist for $30. We then had to buy more than $50 worth of accessories (downrod, new vaulted ceiling mount, chain extentions and pulls) and climb up on a very big ladder and use some interesting tandem acrobatics to mount and wire the new fan. Five minutes my ASS... but we eventually got it done, and now we're really, really pleased with it. We have overhead light in our living room!!! And, a working ceiling fan!! The original fan was broken before we ever moved in... we turned it on the first week we were living there, and it very nearly spun itself right out of the ceiling. We had to leave it hanging there lopsided for a year before getting around to replacing it, so we're really excited to have a new pretty fan in there.

Anyway, then I assembled the little media cabinet we bought for the family room.

We set this up right next to the fireplace, but haven't been able to put anything in it yet as we need to rewire our TV with longer connecting cords so that the DVD player can be placed in the cabinet instead of precariously perching on the mantle. :P

Those two little projects took literally ALL DAY. *sigh* Then Shasta went out to meet a friend who was getting off work at 1 AM (I stayed home because I wanted to SLEEP) and didn't get home until almost 5 AM. I didn't sleep so well anyway because I never do when she's gone... so we didn't get very much rest at all on Saturday night.

On Sunday, then, we got up and went grocery shopping, and treated ourselves to lunch at Red Lobster (MMMMMMMM) before heading home for more work. We opened up the garage and started hauling EVERYTHING out of it. We have a two car garage that was literally packed floor to ceiling, wall to wall, with STUFF. We've taken photos of things we're going to post on Craigslist, made a big pile of stuff to bring inside and put away, and made another pile of things for a garage sale that we hope to have in a couple weeks. We also broke down a jillion boxes and threw away all kinds of stuff -- our poor trash guys are going to hate us this week. X.x We didn't get through the entire garage, it got really really late and we hadn't finished the back corner of stuff yet... but we did sort through most of it. Then we had to load it all back into the garage again and bring the inside-stuff inside. We didn't get done until about 10:30 PM. So after dinner, showers, and a little *coughs* playtime, we didn't get to sleep until 12:30ish... and I am just a zombie at work today.

As for a little wedding-babble: I got my summer royalties check from Bold Strokes, all of which was promptly deposited into our wedding fund. I'm also putting another $200 from my Michael Jackson auctions into the fund, and $100 from my August paycheck. When Shasta puts her $100 in for this month we will have enough to put the down payment on the wedding package we want at Blue Skies!! YAY!!! Once we've reserved the date, too, then we can actually start with the other stuff -- save the dates, inviting our attendants (so I can start sewing for them :P ) etc.

Did I mention we're also house-sitting for the neighbors? :P And that our next-door neighbors are having some rooms in their house made over for an HGTV television episode, so our street has been full of vans and cars for the past week? Yeah... tiring. *sigh*

Our roof is done too, and so are the gutters, so now I need to call the appraisal guy and have him come do his thing so we can move forward with the refi...

Just as soon as I go home and get a nap. :P
