TUTORIAL # 2 - BRIGHT COLORS IN 4 STEPS

made in adobe photoshop - uses selective colors

step 1

search for the picture you want to create an icon of

this coloring works best on not too dark screencaps, meaning it unfortunately doesn't give an all too good result with SUPERNATURAL or ANGEL caps

for this tutorial i'll be re-creating an icon from this post

step 2

next, create a new curves layer

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Curves

first point:

input: 46

output: 117
second point:

input: 139

output: 206

the curves should look like this

step 3

create a new lightness/contrast layer

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Lightness/Contrast

set contrast to +25

result



step 4

create a new selective colors layer

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Colors

step 5

create a new hue/saturation layer

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation

set saturation to +10

final result
