Tell me once in the past 20 years where "petitioning, boycotting, and lobbying" and voting for that matter has impeded the spread neo- conservative, facist, privatization.
Beyond that the point of reclaiming the streets is to go beyond that and show symbolicly the destructive power of war, capitalism, hierarchy ect. Its about not relying on other people i.e. politicians and bueracrats, who simply do not care about making real social change, the durrastic change needed within our society and demonstrating an alternative to the timeless standing on sidewalks with a pray for peace banner, praying the empty sky will save your "moral witness" to the atrocities being done in our name as if to sugest the politicians, bueracrats, ceo's, execuatives ect, are not aware of the consequences of their actions or for that matter care.
Have you ever been apart of a reclaim the streets? "mob mentality", "cohersion", obviously not. I'd say for over 95% of the people involved in such actions, it is the most liberating experiance they have had. It shows you the lie of authority and law. It shows you what you can do, far beyond what your told. It gives more inscentive to stop the "personal greed" you speak; dare say its bad to assume your average democrat, green, comunwhatever would not have more material possesions than anarchist or more darring radical regardless of affiliation or belief.
Amelia is far too inteligient than to put herself in that situation if she did not have a strong desire to do so. Blindly follow? please. when 90% of society "blindly" follows empty gods and patriotic lies on any level, you cant even compare. When americas youth is so consumed by mtv the media ect. partaking in something that is liberating, ecouraging you to further cut off ties with that culture, is far more of a positive experiance then grinding your back in the political world untill our jadeness has you voting for a john kerry, praying to god the other guy doesnt blow the world.
