Pence had already retreated to 'his' room for the night (immediately after dinner), though he couldn't concentrate on his schoolwork with the shouting that began soon after Mister Kinneas got home from work... But was that Irvine's voice? Huh...

His curiousity piqued, the teen waited until he heard steps coming upstairs... and then past him? He quietly tiptoed out of 'his' room, and squinted up the stairs (which he hadn't noticed before) that must lead to an attic of some kind. As soundlessly as he could manage, he snuck up the stairs, feeling his way along. What seemed like an eternity later, he was standing in the attic, raising his brows at the open window.

"...Irvine...?"

"Oh, Hey Pence" He gave the boy a weary smile. "How are you?" He asked, swirling around half a beer in his bottle, one dead soldier already lined up.

"'m all right..." He took a careful seat on the windowsill, leaning back slightly to look at the cowboy. "Everything okay...?"

"Hey, at least he notices you," Pence said, managing a slight smile. And he doesn't notice you just to beat you.

Irvine nodded, he knew he had nothing to complain about to Pence.

"Yeah.... he treats me good... Iwish I could just hold up my end of the deal and make him proud of me.... I blew that chance a LONG time ago" He said, wishing he had brought a pop or somthing to offer Pence.

Pence 'hmmed' quietly. "Well... why can't you still make him proud?"

"He wanted a son to follow in his footsteps- only thing he wanted. But I let him down, I could never be a cop. When some one presses me, I freeze..... he realised that when I was 12 and I couldnt bring myself to shoot a burgluar who was gonna bash me with a crobar. Dad had to take the shot from the other side of the house and here I had two shotguns a foot away from me" He xplained, gesuring for emphasis.

"Oh..." Pence sighed, and shifted uncomfortably for a moment. "I don't think I'd be a very good cop either."

"I think it's one of those things that you can either live outside your own head and do it, or you just cant. ...I really dont wanna be a cop, honestly but I'll still wind up with a desk job in the department. ....What are you gunna do, Pence?" Irvine asked.

"I... I dunno. I've never really put much thought into it... Especially now, I'm just trying to focus on the present."

"mmmmm that's a good idea. But Still... the future should be somthing to look forward to- what would you like to do, if you could do anything?" Irvine asked, finishing his bottle and lining it up beside it's comrade. "...You could be an astronaut even~" Irvine gave Pence a grin.

"...a ghost hunter." His cheeks flushed, and he ducked his head. "That's really silly though, isn't it?"

"No way! I think that's really cool...... you ever see a ghost before?" He asked, getting more curious.
