Viva La Vida by Coldplay
Most of the songs on my TMC playlist are more about specific character situations, but this particular song is about the various monarchs in general. The song speaks of a paranoid king. While the king throughout most of the action isn’t the most paranoid, I feel as though sometimes he should be. Don’t question my logic; it makes sense in my mind.
Womanizer by Britney Spears
This one is definitely about Henri du Bois. He’s my Casanova. During his youth, Henri was more staid thanks to the influence of his father and grandmother, but once he became king that was all out the window as he began to partake in the spoils of being the king. I think this song is perfect for him.
Forbidden Love by Madonna (from the Confessions album)
When I picked this song, I had a different couple in mind, but I think it could fit with a lot of couples in this story. The two main ones that come to mind when I’m listening are Elisabetta de Loacharno and her brother in law, Daniyel Everart, where it’s more of disastrous love triangle with her and the two Everart brothers. The other one is Princess Marie-Therese of Monde and Jehann d’Ambry, a simple knight. They aren’t supposed to be together due to their different social classes.

This song was picked due to the Pierre situation. By the time of the reign of the second Henri, Pierre has become an alcoholic and constantly mourns over his deceased sister. I just think the lyrics fit his tormented mind.
I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift
This song was picked about the later years of Anna Everart and Henri. I see it as Anna thinking to herself that she knew Henri would wreak havoc in her life and by current time, it seems her premonitions were correct.
Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake
The other side of the coin of the Henri/Anna relationship, I see this song as representing Henri’s feeling about his wife’s supposed betrayal. Particularly when the lyrics talk about forgiving and making the lover sad about their betrayal.
About Her by Malcolm McLaren
Another song representing Henri’s POV, I feel like Henri is wishing someone would have warned him about Anna or more along the lines that he wished he would have listened.
LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Interlude by Justin Timblerlake
Yet another song representing Henri’s POV but before things went sour in the relationship. I think it speaks that Henri knows Anna has him under her spell, but he doesn’t care as he only wants her by this point in the story.
Whatever You Like by T.I.
This song is basically a boast by Henri. He’s the king, he has seemingly unlimited funds behind him. He can give her whatever she wants, except marriage, it seems.
I Don’t Wanna Know by Mario Winans
Wow these are a lot of songs representing Henri, but this one is near the end of Henri and Anna’s relationship. Despite hearing rumors, Henri refuses to believe his wife’s supposed deception, until he’s given proof. He still wants to believe in her, despite his own suspicions.
