I swear I'm not dead

Okay, so here's where I've been hiding lately for those of you who don't follow vm_redux and don't know already ; )

Last Sunday my five year old daughter developed a fever. She was pretty much fine until Monday night when she went into a complete tailspin: Shakes, nausea, trouble breathing, painful abdomen, 104.4 fever... the list goes on. Pretty much any symptom you don't want to see your kid come down with at 11:00pm. So we ended up in the ER only to find out she had H1N1. And of course my husband was in Utah on business. At that point we decided it would be best for him to stay up there as to not be exposed, too.

The next day, I ended up sick, too. I didn't go to the doctor but I had the same symptoms so I'm assuming that I had H1N1, too. Ugh, not fun. Anyway, she seemed to get better over the next two days but Thursday morning she took a turn for the worse. Thankfully, it was during the day so I was able to take her into her Pediatrician. Unfortunately, she had developed pneumonia. I was getting very nervous at this point but the doctor seemed to think that she'd be fine if we could keep her fever down and give her a strong round of antibiotics.

Again, she seemed a little better on Friday but then that night she broke out in a terrible rash all over her face, throat, arms and legs. We called the Dr. who told us to stop the antibiotics and bring her in the office the next morning unless she had some sort of respiratory distress, which we should take her directly to the ER. Luckily my husband flew in that night because at this point, I was completely about to lose it.

When I checked on her about 7:00 am, her body was completely swollen and her face was a bright purple/pink. I just about panicked. I called the office and they wanted to see her immediately. Luckily she was still breathing fine, but it was very scary. In the end she changed her antibiotic and that helped but she's still got some redness even after several rounds of Bendrayl.

Today we're feeling better. The pneumonia hasn't gotten any better but I'm hoping this new medicine will help. And she hasn't had a fever in 24 hours which is a relief. I don't know if I could take it if something else happened with her.

So that's where I've been if you've wondered. I promise to catch up with your entries/comments the next few days. And for those of you who've sent your well wishes, I greatly appreciate it!! : )

On an awesome note, lookie what I won!!! It's first place in Best Use of a Challenge from vmfic_gameon *jumps up and down*

Isn't it pretty??

Annnnnnnnnnnddddddddd..... for some reason I've been interested in iconing lately. I thought I'd try my hand. I made this a while back and I thought I'd share : )

I'm still not sure if I like it or not. It's my first so I'd love some opinions. Be honest... I can take it : )
