All right… now that you guys have the pictures, you probably don’t care about the rest but I’m going to share just in case you do ; ) I’m always appreciative when
afrocurl and others let us in on their experiences!
If you missed them, you can check out the pictures

For the second year in a row, I have had the privilege of watching Jason Dohring play golf in the BMW Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The tourney is played over four days, at three different golf courses all within thirty miles of Greenville, South Carolina. Each amateur, either celebrity or not, is paired with a professional player from the Nationwide Tour (one step below the PGA). They play as a team, using the best ball format. The top seven teams are the only ones that compete on the forth day of play.
This year, as well as last year, we (meaning myself and my husband who’s name is also Jason) observed Jason play at the Bright’s Creek Golf Club in Mill Creek, North Carolina. It is very beautiful but fairly rugged- translation: lots of walking up hills : ) Jason is a great golfer and he has a handicap of eight which means he can subtract one stroke from eight holes. Last year, his team placed third, but unfortunately this year they didn’t make the cut for the last day.
Upon arrival, we went to the practice greens where we saw Jason and his wife Lauren. He spotted us and smiled and said hello while carrying his breakfast : ) They were 45 minutes behind schedule due to fog so we meandered around the practice areas watching everyone. Jason teed off at hole number ten and after finishing at the green, came over and shook our hands and thanked us for coming out again to watch him.
I didn’t have any expectations going into the tourney; we had such a great time last year and JD was so warm and welcoming, talking with us throughout the day, that I didn’t want to get my hopes up that things would be as wonderful. Let me just say that this year surpassed last year by about ten times ; ) It was that great!
JD walked with us and talked with both me and hubby whenever he could. I also got to talk to Lauren quite a bit which was a special treat. She is very sweet and polite and it was a pleasure to get to know her as well. We all talked about lots of different things and most of it I don’t feel comfortable sharing. I respect both Jason and Lauren whole-heartedly and lets face it - who would want their personal conversations posted all over the internet? LOL. I didn’t tell you this to make myself sound important or self-righteous, only to reiterate how gracious and kind Jason is to his fans.
I will share with you some of the non-personal stuff, though : ) At one at one point Jason asked what kind of shows that hubby and I watched on television. Jason told him sports and I said nothing really because there isn’t a whole lot worth watching anymore, lol. I found it to be a great segue into asking him about The Body Politic so I did. I told him that I was aware of his new pilot and that I had the chance to read a synopsis of it and that I loved it. He seemed to light up when talking about the show and it was nice to see him so enthusiastic about a project.
I’m going to try my best to remember everything we said when talking about the pilot but I’m not making any promises, lol. We both love to talk, what can I say? We talked about him being Charlie, the nice guy, and he told me it was different getting to play the nice guy for a change. We laughed about him always being the bad guy, so to speak, but he told me he loved it because he could really put himself into playing the part. He told me that it required so much more acting and that he liked to pull from different things. But he said that Charlie was a cool part and that he was excited about it and he hoped that he had a chance to continue to play it.
Jason said that the pilot turned out really, really well and that it had showed well?? Something like that… I assumed he was talking about the people who had the chance to watch the pilot. We also talked about the fact that it had an awesome cast. I asked him if it would be shot in Richmond if it was picked up and he told me that it wasn’t certain but a very, very good possibility. He also told me that they would know for sure by Monday (I was under the assumption that meant tomorrow, the 18th) if it would be picked up by the CW or not. Oh, and he did say that one of the reasons they gave for it not being picked up if that indeed is the case is that apparently, no one really wants to watch a show about Washington D.C. right now. Well, they didn't ask me!!! *pouts*
I made sure to let him know that Roz, Anita and Andrea all asked me to tell him “hi.” He smiled and told me what nice girls they all were and appreciated their hellos.
At the end of the day, we said our goodbyes and Jason thanked us for coming out. Again this year, he was both delighted and impressed that we had stayed all day, especially since it rained off and on. He invited us to come again next year. I told him we would definitely make the effort : )
I know several of you have met him numerous times and are already acutely aware of what I’m about to say. Jason Dohring is indeed a class act and wonderful human being. He has a heart for charity and genuinely cares about his fans and his work as an actor. Personally, that means a lot and the world needs more people like that. It’s both an honor and a pleasure to know him. My only wish is that he would be afforded every opportunity, as he certainly deserves them.
