it’s been a while…
so it’s been a while since of i’ve been on this thing. today i talked to my mom. i haven’t heard from her in a bit so it was good to hear her voice. things are going very slowly as far as repairing the home front goes. my brother went home this weekend and he said the house was basically empty. i also talked to my grandma for a little bit. it was pretty rough. she broke down while she was on the phone with me. sometimes i just don’t understand the way the world or life works sometimes. this is a woman who spent her life growing up poor in poland, was sent to 3 different camps during the holocaust, survived. moved to the u.s. settled down. had to deal with the premature death of her husband and my grandfather when he died in a car wreck in 1982. and now has pretty much lost everything. her home, the place that i have been going to have dinner every friday night all of my life is now gone. sometimes life is so hard. she is so strong, probably the strongest woman i have ever known. i can only hope to have that strength one day. i love her so much.
