A Night I'll Never Forget
Had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"
She spilled her coffee, broke her shoelace
Smeared the lipstick on her face
Slammed the door and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"
And she swears there's nothing wrong
I hear her playing that same old song
She puts me off and puts me on
And had a bad day again

I spent most of last night worrying
and crying. i went into shock about 9 o'clock.
my grandmother, the only true
mother i've ever really known.
my primary care-giver.
my confidant.
my papa's better half
has had a stroke or heart attack
and is in the ICU because
there has been some damage
to her heart.
i don't know what to do
with myself.
i don't know what to expect.
i just want to curl up and be
a big baby but then again
i want this day to be just
a normal day.
the birds are singing outside.
and they shouldn't be.
don't they know?
my grandfather got up 4 hours before
visiting hours to go be with her.
i'm about to work up the courage
to go get in the shower and get there
in time to see her and talk to the doctors.
i'll never say another bad thing about or to her
ever again.
