I noticed some interesting discussion brought up by
lhunuial several posts back and wanted to attempt at some answers.
Topics of discussion:
1-Yuan's Family
2-The infamous disease spreading in Mibu.
-Yuan's Family-
First of all, as indicated in the
character map, the list of the Yuan Family with additional data:
Julian - father
Ian - mother (supposedly died)
Children:
Anri - Oldest son
-former konoetaishi to Muramasa
-escaped Mibu with Muramasa
-instilled a portion of his power/technique called the 'sekireigan' to Yukimura
-recently revealed by Yuan that Anri left Mibu to also prepare a safe haven for the rest of his siblings should things go awry in their Mibu home (which is currently the case)
Yuan - Second oldest son
-powerful Taishirou, has the ability to consume souls
-mentor and trainer to Hotaru - gave Hotaru his original name of 'Keikoku'
-joined Taishirou to find the real reason of death of her mother
Anthony - Senbon specialist
-3rd oldest son
-used to be an avid 'gariben' -studied all the time in order to become a Goyousei like Hotaru
-'rival' to Hotaru - often had food eating contests when Hotaru used to live with the Yuan family
Anna
-oldest daughter
-takes care of Yuan's household
Anjelica
-second oldest daughter
-looks like her mother
Yurian* - M - wears a headband
Kirian* - M - wears a cowboy type hat
Erian* - M - a generic looking character, looks like chibi!Taihaku
Lilian* -F - wears a visor
Marian* - F - wears a traditional looking golf cap
(*-quintuplets)
All of Yuan's siblings, with the exception of Anri, are also Yuan's official Taishirou 'konoetaishi' (personal soldiers). Each of them are strong and hold individual powers in their own right.
Mouseover the pics for the names. (images taken from Volume 30)
-The disease spreading in Mibu: Shi no Yamai-
(warning: some of the statements below are my thoughts and/or analysis from reading Vol 12 - to current )
The disease is officially called, Shi no Yamai (trans. 'the sickness of death'). I think this sickness is one of the main reasons for the conflicts and battles that are taking place in and around Mibu. It also explains the existence of Hishigi's secret laboratory which has been a place of many wicked experiments including the creation of the 'red eyed' children as seen in Ch 261.
In this same chapter, with the help of Shindara, Sasuke manages a narrow escape from the secret laboratory which 'self destructs.' Before passing, Shindara hands Sasuke a series of paperwork (taken from Hishigi's lab) which includes some key findings for a possible cure to the 'shi no yamai' as well as the encrypted information which might lead to the 'the big secret' of Mibu.
Those mentioned in the manga so far who have died of shi no yamai:
1-Muramasa
2-Hitoki Muramasa's younger sister
3-Shinrei and Hotaru's father (name unknown)
4-Possibly Kubira II (the guy Akira defeated in ch 198-v25 - I couldn't definitively figure out whether he ultimately died by the injuries of Akira or b/c he gave up his 'contract' with Hishigi and thus succumbed to the illness (read Antera's description)
Those who are currently afflicted with shi no yamai:
1-Antera (the little pig-tailed Jyuunishinshou girl) NOTE- she has technically 'beat' this disease with the aid of Hishigi's assistance - he regressed or reverted Antera's growth back to that of a little girl--i.e.- to the point in her life when the disease had not yet formed in her body). Hishigi agreed to use his shamanic powers to perform this rite in return for Kubira's servitude as one of the revived members of the Jyuunishinshou
2-Kyo - revealed he had the sickness in chapter 251
I think that Ian (Yuan's mother) was afflicted with shi no yamai. (although the manga states that she was killed for her supposed traitorous activity). I also suspect that the Red King (aka Crimson King) and Tokito are currently afflicted with this disease.
That's all I have for now. *collapses in SDK research bliss*
