a question about the anime and the end of the manga

Urm, not a "does this/what happened" question, but an interpretation thing, I guess.

Sorry if this has been dissected to death, but I'm new to the comm and didn't see a tag for the anime to check.

But, I've been randomly rewatching anime episodes the last week and a half(causing mild obsessing at my LJ, but Kyo/Yuya centric and I don't know how many here care about them)  but it reminded me that I was surprised when I learned a year or so ago that a lot of people thought the ending was too ambiguous because, while I thought it was ambiguous, it seemed to be pretty obvious to me that it was Kyo.  Ignoring for a moment that it would be pretty cool for the guy we spent the majority of the series following to be offed by the guy we barely know offscreen, but it felt like Kyo...both the stance...after the fight and in the epilogue, and the way he said "Yuya" felt very distinctively Kyo and not Kyoshiro.  Then there's the fact that he's with Yuya.  Quite simply, Kyo loved Yuya, Kyoshiro loved Sakuya.  Yes, Kyoshiro seems to care for Yuya, but there's no reason to believe he'd leave Sakuya for her(and, on the flipside, even though oher characters have said he did, I never get the feeling in the manga or the anime that Kyo ever loved Sakuya.)

Anyway, did anyone else just automatically think it was Kyo, or am I just too much of an optimist?

Again, sorry if it's a subject everyone is sick and tired of.

I also finally caved to the lure of SDK scanslations...only to learn that there aren't any beyond what's already come out in the US.  But I've managed to read some translations and look at raw and completely spoil myself for certain parts of the last 2 chapters.

YOU IDIOT!!!!! You choose THEN to be a hero?  And you tell her you want her to be happy?  Here's a hint for that: GET YOUR BUTT OVER THERE AND GO WITH HER!!!!  Now is NOT the the time to be doing the heroic sacrifice bit.  Granted, I'm fairly clueless about what was going on in the larger story frame beyond "final showdown with big bad," but I'm pretty  sure that there was another way.

And then you wait three years to come back?(Ok fine, so I guess the time frame wasn't exactly in your control)  But really, you're lucky Yuya is just about the most patient OTP ever.  I mean, it's already canon that one other guy's in love with her, and while I've only read up to vol 21, it seems Akira might be leaning that way, too(maybe?  I dunno...it seems it...but I think it's kind of as an extension of Kyo or something...kind of "I didn't kill her when I met her, so I might as well make sure she stays safe?" Or something like that?  *Loves Akira but can't really read him)  Anyway...waaaayyyy too much time than, Kyo.

Sigh...why can't Tokyopop up the releases already?  I mean, the thing's already finished...

Also, because I've seen this mentioned once or twice while poking around...do people really think SDK is a knockoff of Rurouni Kenshin?(not here, obviously, but elsewhere) I mean...I love both series, but I can't see that at all.  I mean, aside trom the fact that they're both shonen samurai stories, they're nothing alike...the characters, stories, motices etc. are all vastly different...they aren't even in the same time period, much less the same setting (unless anything historical Japan is considered to be a single setting)  I mean, if I LOOK for similarities, I guess maybe Yuya and Kaoru are a little alike, but that's if I'm hunting.  But...yeah...just seemed odd to me when I read that.
